Consdiering Carlton is allowing a U.S company to remake U.F.O, but set in the present day, what will U.F.O Fans feel about this "remake"...?

By ScottN on Sunday, December 07, 2003 - 11:12 pm:

Mark, where did you hear this?

By markvthomas on Friday, December 12, 2003 - 11:31 am:

ScottN, this month's Dreamwatch magazine.
In addition, SFX magazine had a little news item about it. I expect that it will be more prominient in the next issue (out Dec 18th in the U.K)
The company, that Carlton has "authorised" to remake UFO, according to the article, is Trinity Entertainment, who did the last "Twilight Zone" amoungst others, which leads me to suspect that it will turn out to be a "X-files" clone.

hey, where can one get UFO eps w/o spending the ~100USD they want for the 'megaset'??

Re:UFO Remake
According to a item in this month's SFX Magazine, Gerry Anderson has formally asked Granada Ventures for the rights to remake Thunderbirds & UFO....
It seems that the "New Thunderbirds", if it goes through, will be made in CGI, in a similar style to the "New Captain Scarlet" series, though Gerry Anderson is undecided about making UFO as a live action series or going the CGI-animated route....

http://alien-ufo-research.com is a weird one

By ScottN on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - 6:00 pm:

Shouldn't that go elsewhere, Jeff? This board is for the TV series "UFO".

"Real life" UFO's are fair game somewhere over in the Kitchen Sink.

By RWFW (Nit_breaker) on Saturday, October 04, 2014 - 6:34 am:

Why has this board split the episodes into two seasons, when other sources, such as IMDB and the UFO series website (http://ufoseries.com) list them as one?

Is it due to the fact that, according to the UFO Series website, the episodes were filmed in two blocks, due to the original studio closing down?

Who Threw That?!

By Rogbodge (Nit_breaker) on Sunday, November 16, 2014 - 10:02 am:

Any updates on the remake?

Who threw that?

By R W F Worsley (Notanit) on Friday, November 29, 2019 - 9:23 am:

I take it the remake fell through then?

Before anyone asks, I am the same person responsible for the two previous messages!

From Wikipedia:

quote:

In 2009, it was announced that producer Robert Evans and ITV Global would produce a big-screen adaptation of the series. Ryan Gaudet and Joseph Kanarek were to write the script, which was to be set in 2020. It was claimed that the UFO movie would be visual effects supervisor Matthew Gratzner's directorial debut and that Joshua Jackson would play Col. Paul Foster. Ali Larter was linked to the role of Col. Virginia Lake. However, the film did not go ahead.

Producers Avi Haas and Matthew Gratzner posted on the official UFO film website that the film was under development and planned for a summer 2013 release. However, nothing was completed, and the film's web page is no longer available.

So, yes, it fell through.

By John E. Porteous (Jep) on Thursday, August 25, 2022 - 5:49 pm:

Have they stated that clearly.

In movie talk they can claim that it's still under research.

By E K (Eric) on Saturday, August 27, 2022 - 5:59 am:

I think in Hollywood-speak they call that "Development Hell"

By John E. Porteous (Jep) on Monday, August 29, 2022 - 7:06 pm:

That to.

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 - 5:37 am:

It's as dead as Buddy Holly.
