This might be of interest to MST3K fans.
Excellent news!
The first Film Crew DVDs are available for pre-order from Amazon (and probably other sites).
The site that Keith mentioned above made it sound like they're supposed to be spoof DVD commentaries; however, listening to the extracts on the site they do sound just like MSTings and are very similar to MST3K episodes.
Sadly for me the DVDs are NTSC format and I don't think my DVD player will handle them. I might be forced to buy an all-regions one! I have been tempted ever since some of the MST3K episodes came out on Region 1 DVD which hadn't been released on video. Please send all donations to CallieNeedsAMultiRegionDVDPlayer@Once. Thank you kindly. ;-)
The Best Brains guys are also doing this! which is cheaper than the Film Crew DVDs.
WARNING! Watch out for the Penguin Goa'uld!!
Thanks to all your kind donations (don't I wish!), I am now the proud owner of a multi-region DVD. I am also not the proud owner of much money as I keep buying American DVDs!
I bought one of The Film Crew's offerings (Hollywood after Dark). They are very much like MST episodes - although they call them commentaries, they're exactly the same kind of riffing they did in MST episodes, and consequently are good fun! However, I hope I can persuade myself not to buy any more!
I also paid waaay too much money for the MST3K Volume 10 DVD boxset . That's the one that was quietly withdrawn shortly after being issued - something to do with copyright, apparently - but I managed to get it on eBay. I've not had a chance to watch all of it yet but the first two movies are Godzilla Vs Megalon and Swamp Diamonds, both of which were great fun. On one of the latter two is also Poopie part 2, more outtakes, which I'm particularly looking forward to.
If that's the one with Teenage Strangler, you're in for some good times.
It is, and I watched that episode last night together with Poopie 2!
Happy Anniversary, MST3K!
Today is the 20th anniversary of the first airing of the show.
Party!!!!!
A few episodes of MS3TK are available on Hulu.com
http://www.hulu.com/mystery-science-theater-3000
So far they have The Giant Gila Monster, The Rebel Set, Monster A-Go-Go, Secret Agent Super Dragon & The Starfighters
Hulu has added MST3K eps Ring Of Terror & Horrors Of Spider Island, but for some reason they list them as being from Season 5 instead of Season 2 (ROT) & 10 (HOSI).
Hulu also has 3 episodes of The Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark, Wild Women Of Wongo & Giant Of Marathon.
Probably should have noted this yesterday, but it was twenty-five years ago on that day (a Thursday no less) that Mystery Science Theater 3000 premiered on KTMA.
[searching for a good Sgt. Pepper riff to go along with Gordon's comment]
I have celebrated accordingly, by ordering the 25th Anniversary boxset. However, as it's coming in from Amazon America, I may be lucky to get it in time for Christmas!
I need to get that box set, it's pretty fantastic, and the online Turkey Day marathon today has been fantastic.
Also geeking out about being the first fan that Joel ever revealed his favorite Mike episode to.
There's now a dedicated subtopic for the new Season 11, and I've moved all relevant comments into there.
Somehow, when you made the transfer, a bunch of comments were placed out of order. You might want to try to fix that.
*kicks the stupid Admin section* Sorted now, I hope.
Announcement from Joel:
"I'm happy to tell you that we finally found master tapes for two of the three "lost KTMA episodes" of MST3K: Invaders from the Deep, and Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars."
You can only see them if you've bought into a certain level of the Kickstarter campaign, but more details are here.
In the latest The Line It Is Drawn, one of the suggestions involved MST3K. Scroll down to the 6th drawing to see.
The MST3K gang will be hitting the road this summer. Go see if they'll be visiting your town.

Wow, they're not cheap, are they, especially if you want to go to both performances.
Probably a good job they're not coming to London ... ;-)
The final DVD boxset will be released in November. Well, Shout Factory fear that it will be the final one because they can't get licences to release any more of the remaining episodes aired up to and including Season 10.
The last set will contain three episodes - including, thankfully, the last episode of the series, Diabolik - and the fourth disc will contain the host segments of all the episodes that can't be released in full.
Frustratingly, being a lowly Brit, I can't preorder the set from Shout themselves because they don't post to the UK, so there isn't even a chance of getting the limited edition bonus disc containing all the Poopie! tapes (although I imagine they've been snapped up by now). My order with amazon.com for the standard version is going in right now!
This probably won't be the end of DVD releases from the MST3K franchise, because Shout will hopefully release the Season 11 episodes in due course.
I've set up a Season 12 subtopic and have moved comments relating to S12 to that topic.
Another road tour will be coming this fall. The movies they'll be using are the first Deathstalker film and a 1988 Canadian film called The Brain. They'll be making stops in states that got passed over in the last tour, so check to see if they'll be coming to your town.

There is a comic book miniseries on the way.
I've seen lots of webcomics do the MST3K treatment to their own, or other, webcomics, but never expected an official version.
Wonder which old comics they've chosen?
Regarding the comic book series, they're taking a different approach from the TV series. Having Jonah and the Bots sitting at the bottom of each panel making wisecracks proved unfeasible, since the panels would get crowded with the shadowrama and the extra speech balloons. So instead, they become characters in the comics books, frequently altering the dialogue in the vein of Fractured Flickers and What's Up Tiger Lily.
Amazon has a preview of the first sixteen pages in electronic format.

Happy 30th anniversary (tomorrow) to MST.
