The Trek Animated Series

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Trek Animated Series

Note from the Chief:
While I was writing the guides, I was often asked why I didn't include the animated series in any of the book. While that answer is a bit complicated, the solution is finally here!

Fellow Nitpicker Murray Leeder has agreed to host a topic for it! He'll be managing the episodes and writing plot synopsis and generally keeping an eye on things. If you need to reach him by email, you can contact him at: mleeder@nitcentral.com

Thanks Phil. The Animated Series definitely stands out as the "lost chapter" of Star Trek, which has been virtually disowned today. In my opinion, that makes it fertile grounds for nitpicking. Is it a good show? In my opinion, no. The time constraint of telling a story in a half hour with commercial breaks, as well as the inherent limitations to a Saturday morning cartoon take their toll... only "Yesteryear" out of those episodes I've seen I would say is actually really worth watching. But I'm a completist.

A useful resource on the Net is Kurt Danhauser's Guide to the Animated Star Trek. Also of interest are Alan Dean Foster's novelizations of every episode.

I'm sorting the episodes in production order, not by air date (there's a marked difference- a fine Trek tradition)

I've seen roughly half the episodes to date, and I'll include brief notes on those ones which I have seen. If anyone is willing to upload more complete synopses (I admit that some of them are a tad sketchy), feel free.
