Religious Musings

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Religious Musings
Please remember Phil's rules of "No fussin', no flamin', no cussin', no sleaze. And everybody gets a right to their own opinion!" and keeping everything civil.

Please also follow these rules:

1. Don't extend vicious conflicts.
2. Don't flame others based on their beliefs, or anything else for that matter.
3. Don't swear to any unreasonable extent.
4. Don't make sexual refrences that don't pertain to the discussion at hand.
5. Don't spam, although most spammers probably never read the rules of the boards they pollute, and if they do they don't care.
6. Do not post messages of general discussion in the space below. It is for comments and concerns on the board only.
7. There is no rule 7. There has NEVER BEEN a rule 7. Any suggestion that there has been a rule will be dealt with by TIM McCREE!!!

Blue Berry asked me to post my contact information. I'm reluctant to post my e-mail address where spam-bots can find it, so you will have to translate this a little: T o m M 2 0 0 3  AT  m y w a y  DOT  c o m

It may take a little while to get an answer. It is not my main e-mail address, and I don't always remember to check it every day.

Thanks to Rene for the idea.

OK, Religious Musings is once again open for business. (I'd wanted to say the "new improved" Religious Musings, but the only thing new is this announcement and I'd be hard-pressed to prove that it constitutes an "improvement.")

I'm enabling the New Conversation button since there has been no problem on Sax's Legal Musings board, so please do not abuse it.

By TomM, RM Moderator (Tom_M) on Friday, December 19, 2003 - 9:39 am:

I'm afraid I had to delete a few postings and disable the "New Converstion" button on this board. Perhaps when the Troll tires of spamming this site I can re-instate the button. The new conversation buttons in specific categories are still operative, but will not be if the Troll starts using them for his Spam.

I have enabled the the Add a Message, so if there is a new board you want to add, just request it and I'll add it.

What? A troll? On the Internet? I am shocked and dismayed.

By TomM, RM Moderator (Tom_M) on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 1:12 pm:

Well we have been mainly troll-free for almost three months. I guess it was due. I just had to eliminate three new threads in Religious Figures and one in Specific religions. If it doesn't stop, I'll have to take steps.

By TomM, RM Moderator (Tom_M) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 1:17 pm:

I deleted three new topics. They were all on the same subject (euthanizing the mentally ill) and were worded as flame-bait.

By MikeC on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 - 10:20 am:

Thank you, by the way, for bringing Add a Message back on the main board (very belated I know, but after reading through some archives, I discovered I requested it a few years ago).

By MikeC on Saturday, June 18, 2005 - 8:45 pm:

OT, but I just want to say thanks to Tom for giving us a temporary sabbatical on the Jesus thread (pun intended). Sometimes we all need a break.

I just figured it wouldn't hurt to stop aggrevating yourselves and one another for one day. Get away enjoy "real life." I will re-open the topic on Monday

By Mark Morgan on Friday, August 26, 2005 - 3:06 pm:

Tom, they're asking for a new page in Evolution vs. Creation. Even if all the pastafarian goodness is on Board 8.

Crazy folks.

Per a request by Luigi, I have added a board under "Specific Religions" for Scientology

BTW On most of the top-level boards (such as Specific Religions) the "Create a New Conversation" button is enabled. You can just add a new board yourself. If I feel that it is in the wrong place, I'll move it. If I feel it is inappropriate I'll deal with that.

By LUIGI NOVI on Saturday, May 13, 2006 - 2:08 pm:

Thanks, Tom. :)

By TomM on Monday, September 04, 2006 - 2:54 pm:

Since I assume that the spammer is a 'bot, I'm effecting a temporary change that will, hopefully, thwart the 'bot. Until further notice, all posting on RM requires a password. The password is E_a_t_A_J_e_e_p (but without the underscores).

If we wind up going to required registration, I will return the forum to normal operation at that time. If we do not, then I'll return the forum to normal operation when the spam dies down.

By TomM on Tuesday, September 05, 2006 - 3:44 pm:

Just a reminder. You need to imput a password in order to post on RM(see my Labor Day's [Mon, Sept 4] post).

Old time members of the Nitpicker's Guild will "get" the password's reference. Old time M*A*S*H fans will "get" the original source.

By Influx on Wednesday, September 06, 2006 - 7:35 am:

Maybe put that info in the topic header?

By Bajoran on Wednesday, September 06, 2006 - 1:28 pm:

Just don't forget the motor oil. It makes things go down smoother.

Good idea. But since many people come here through the "Last Day" link, I will continue to post reminders most days.

Well, having the password apparently stops the spam posts from being made, now is there some way to have the authentication errors automatically not show up?

By Polls Voice on Monday, September 18, 2006 - 12:54 pm:

Sorry, your credit level is not high enough to advance in the religion of Scientology. Please increase your monthly donations in order to achieve nerdvana.

By Polls Voice on Friday, September 22, 2006 - 4:19 pm:

Yes, we know you worship the almighty dollar. now close this thread...

Hello all! The last 9 months has seen activity increase in this area which has gone unmoderated.

Until now.

Discussions that have run their course or devolved into name-calling will be shut down.

God bless you all!
