Sherlock Holmes

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Sherlock Holmes

Welcome to Sherlock Holmes. This board is concerned primarily with the original 56 short stories and four novels written by Arthur Conan Doyle. (For a discussion board concerning the Granada television series starring Jeremy Brett, check the Mystery! board.) The original stories constitute one of the greatest literary series ever, and the character of Holmes one of the most intriguing. However, like any series, Doyle's work left itself open for nitpicking! People have been nitpicking the Holmes stories since they first came out over a century ago. An excellent resource is The Annotated Sherlock Holmes by William G. Baring-Gould. This is one of those books you'd want on a desert island. Someone can come to this work with only a layman's knowledge of Sherlock Holmes and come away knowing everything any good Sherlockian Scholar should know about them. So if you're a fan of these magnificent tales, feel free to leave your comments or nits on them!
