The Impossibility Of Crossing The Same Stream Twice

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Kitchen Sink: Science Related: Vermes (Misc Stuff): The Impossibility Of Crossing The Same Stream Twice
By Scott McClenny on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 9:44 am:

I am one of those people who believes it is impossible to cross the same stream twice.
I also believe that even IF you could and each time you did you were able to bring with you added information from previous crossings, you would still in 99 times out of 100 make the same
choices over and over again.
Even the 100th time could at best be only a variation of the previous 99 times.
This is because our thought patterns and therefore our choices are predetermined by our
personality and character.
And our personality and character are hardwired from the moment of conception in such a way that it is nearly totally impossible for us to think and act outside of certain set patterns.
So the best we can hope for is a variation of the pattern that is slightly better than the original
outcome.

From a quantum standpoint as well, you may be right.

Rene, he means death will still come for you and taxes will still go up.:)

Of course once you enter the stream at the original position, everything downstream would cease to exist from that point on. Therefore you are not entering the same stream twice, but entering a new stream and it's potential for any events won't be like anything before because the there was no before. You can't leave one time frame and enter another, otherwise you would be outside of time. Something that doesn't go well with a mortal bag of water.

Now in its new home here in Science...I think; I guess it's really a matter for debate, isn't it?...:)
