Just curious but has anyone ever attempted to
chart the familial relationships of the various
characters from the various Trek series?

By Charles Cabe (Ccabe) on Saturday, December 22, 2001 - 10:22 pm:

No, but try to plot Lister's family tree on Red Dwarf.

1. He is his own father*. (Series VII "Ouroboros")
2. He once got pregnate. (last episode of Seies 2)
3. That means that his sons are his brothers, his uncles, his great-uncles, etc.

It's bad enough to make you head spin.

*I suspose that is could be worse, I mean his father could be Darth Vader.

I tried to prove on another board that Odo was the stepfather of Worf. The key episodes are "Parallels" (TNG) and "The Muse" (DS9), if you follow me.

In fact, with the new Trek film coming out, Riker could even be Worf's stepbrother-in-law (if there is such a thing).

Hmmmm....well...at least we don't have any
really crazy family trees like Red Dwarf,so
far.
Of interest in Star Trek VI:The Undiscovered
Country Spock claims to be related to Sherlock
Holmes.
Actually I suspect one of these days we will
probably end up discovering that Archer,Kirk
and Janeway are all interrelated some how.

Not necessarily. He could be claiming to be related to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. However, in the Trekverse, it's possible that Holmes was real.

Not according to certain episodes of TNG. They all seem to act like Holmes is a fictional character. Interestingly enough, in the first Holmes episode, Lonely Among Us, Riker refers to Sherlock Holmes as `history's greatest detective' even though Picard has just said he was fictional.

Perhaps he was mythical like King Arthur.

If Lister really IS his own father, given that the end of Ouroboros says, "18 Months later", Chrissie will have to be impregnated by the invitro tube (which somehow survived Starbug's crash) during her 2 year prison term, then Lister will have to take the child back in time. Wonder if we'll see this in the upcoming RD movie? My guess is no. RD doesn't even try to worry about plot oversights.

So Lister is his own father... and grandfather... and great grandfather... etc. and son... grandson... remember he keeps going round and round in time. Kochanski is his mother, though not really his ex girlfreind (least not until Series VIII flashbacks)... ugh. Getting a headache. I gotta go. 10...9....8...6...5...wait, always had a bit of a blind spot with 7s.... I'll start lower down. 1, bye!

I've never heard of "Red Dwarf" but maybe Zaphod Beeblebrox's family had a similar situation. Remember, his father was Zaphod Beeblebrox the Second, his grandfather was the third, etc.
