Remember how people wanted to ban me for sayign nasty things about Righties? So far I've been proven right on almost every acount. This time I've been proven right about what greedy scum fucks Right Wing talking heads are.

By Mark Morgan-Roving Mod (Mmorgan) on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 11:25 am:

I have contacted The Chief Nitpicker again about your continuing abuse of the board rules and your constant profanity.

I asked The Chief to consider banning you because of your consistent namecalling and abuse of other posters, in that specific case ScottN. His political beliefs are irrelevant to my decisions, as I am dramatically left of center and MJ is a freakin' Wiccan.

I am also contacting The Chief and Kerriem to see if we can get some additional moderation support for the Sink.

Brian...

Over the years you have consistently shown yourself to be a person who purposefully and willfully has violated the standards under which nitcentral attempts to operate.

You are not welcome here. And I am therefore asking you to leave and never post again. There are several responses you can have to this. You can attempt to keep posting but you should know that as best as I am able I will trace every post that you make back to the service provider that you use and I will inform them that you are not welcome on this site because of your abusive behavior. You may not be aware that all reputable service provider have anti-abuse policies in their service agreements and I have found them very responsive when the actions of one individual might translate to the banning of all their subscribers to certain site.

For instance, this post came from IP address 67.106.48.34 which resolves to concentric.net and I will be contacting concentric.net directly after posting this message.

Goodbye Brian.

Just as my decision to never allow anyone using your name to moderate again at Nitcentral, so now my decision is irrevocable to allow anyone using your name unencombered access as a poster.

Don't bother to try to contact me. Given you past behavior, I have no imagining that it was you who made this post.

Phil Farrand
Chief Nitpicker, Nitpickers Guild

I'm sorry it had to come to this, chief and fellow board members. Overall this board has been pretty good compared to the others I've been on. (Is there a topic for discussing Board issues?)

My initial (and only, I believe) complaint to Brian was that he use a spell checker, reasoning that someone who doesn't take the time to check their posts (and had as many typos as his did) appeared not to have taken the time to organize his thoughts as well.

By The Shadow on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 5:16 pm:

He'll be back, using pseudonyms. We just have to be vigilant in spotting his style, moderators and posters alike.

By MikeC on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 8:03 pm:

Banning's a tough option, but with all the second chances, warnings, and new starts that Brian had (and the latest venomous attack on people for no reason), I'm sorry to say I have to agree with you, Chief.

By Benn on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 8:12 pm:

Shouldn't all posts using the name, "Dude" also be banned since this is a known alias of Brian's?

By The Shadow on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 9:42 pm:

Some other posters have used Dude, as far as I know.

Jon Irenicus is a pseudonym for Webber, too.

By Benn on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 10:11 pm:

Yeah, I know. But unless you do an IP check for every "Dude"... But that's up to the mods, really.

By MarkN on Saturday, January 08, 2005 - 10:57 pm:

Well, if I ever see anymore posts from him, or any others of a similar or exact style of his, then I'll delete them immediately with no compunction about doing so, nor explanations. I'll of course check to make sure first but once satisified it's him then those posts are gone.

By Mark Morgan-Roving Mod (Mmorgan) on Sunday, January 09, 2005 - 9:09 am:

Wow. I wonder if The Chief wants the roving mods to delete Webber posts, too?

Mods should probably record IPs before deleting posts, it seems.

Luigi Novi: Nitcentralia. It's in the Kitchen Sink.

Wouldn't it be easier just to make a section in the Garbage Dump for banned users and put the posts there? This would have two benefits I can see: 1) any suspect post could be restored if a moderator was mistaken, and 2) the IP address would be permanently available at anytime and the Moderators wouldn't have to worry about accidentally mis-recording it

By NSetzer (Nsetzer) on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 1:34 pm:

I sent the Chief an email and he has stated that this sounds fine. I have created a space in the Dump for these messages should it be needed.

By ScottN on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 1:45 pm:

Back to the original topic, it's a shame that we got sidetracked, because it actually is a serious issue.

This guy was an idiot. All a journalist has to sell is his credibility, and he has made it clear that his is for sale.

By NSetzer (Nsetzer) on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 6:18 am:

I agree the issue is a serious one and not just for journalists. This should reflect badly on the Bush administration as well: they really don't have any business buying off the press. In fact they don't have any business disrupting the freedom of the press in general
