Did we ever learn the identity of the man who appeared in Laveteria in 2099 in the shortlived Doom 2099 series. Was it actually Doom or Kristoff or did they never say?

I've clicked on this discussion (as it were) a couple times over the past five years and now I'm going to answer it. Sorry about the delay.

They never said.

But there were enough strong hints that we can assume it wasn't Doom. They never really gave any indication that was Krystoff either; he's just the most likely suspect.

Don't know what happened after the cancellation of the 2099 series. I know there were a few one-shot comebacks that I never had the chance to pick up.

What happened to the 2099 series? I take it doom was canceled, is that the same for all of them?

The titles were all cancelled at the same time but merged into 2099: World of Tomorrow (I think that's the name) which was poorly written and had waaaaay too many characters (like, all of them) to be coherent. It lasted a few issues and then bit the dust itself. Pity, because I really liked the 2099 universe on the whole. Guess there weren't enough of us.

There was something called Dark Knights 2099 a couple years ago. I didn't pick it up but it didn't seem to be the same 2099. I paged through it and saw that there was a completely different Punisher 2099. Maybe it was supposed to be a What-If sort of thing. Not knowing what it was supposed to be is the reason I didn't pick it up, coupled with the fact that I hadn't read comics in some time.
