Ever see a sign that looked dumb?
Here's some examples:
Railroad Crossing:
"Do Not Stop On Tracks"
(Like...duh!)
Restaurant:
"Thank you for not smoking"
(How did they know we weren't?)
At one of my previous jobs, there was a sign outside on the street:
No parking on Condor
Man, those environmentalists are everywhere! Actually, the building was on Condor Dr.
Locally: there's a pair of signs:
STOP and No Stopping at Any Time
Right next to each other. Help!
ScottN- I saw that sign in L.A- what street? Its been awhile though.
When people smoke under a no smoking sign.
Kids Skateboarding under the no Skateboarding signs...
Sorry guys...this is for dumb signs, not for dumb people who can't read signs
This isn't a sign, but once when I was working at the Evansdale Library we got a Government Document in the mail for our collection called "What To Do Now That You are Blind". It wasn't printed in braille, either.
A motorcycle cop was stationed at the freeway entrance. The sign posted
35mph.If I went to 36mph, he'd catch me for speeding.If I went to 34 mph, he'd catch me for
being too slow.So I went to 35 exactly and he got mad at me.His radar gun was at 35mph, exactly!
He was ready to chase me up ramp.
near my hometown.
And this relates to "dumb signs" how?
Why would he get mad if you were going exactly 35???
Why would this police officer act this way towards you?
Going below the speed limit is not something you can be pulled over for(in most jurisdictions) unless you are going so slow that you are obstructing traffic, or you are going below the minimum speed limit if there is one(on some interstates) Going 34 in a 35 should not result in anything happening to you, unless the officer has checked your license plates or there is a physical problem with your car.
the speed limited is 35.I usually go 45 up a ramp.Geez. He wants a speedin g ticket...
Outside of Kodak Park on the street is a sign that reads "Do not cross here"for pedestrians, yep, that's where you could count on groups of folks leaving work everyday crossing on a very busy street.

Sorry about that. I couldn't figure out how to get the close-up. Then after toying with it, I finally figured it out.
A number of years ago I worked at a business that had the broom closet right next to the bathroom. People would constantly open that door, even though it was clearly marked "Employee's Only". Yes, it said "Employee's Only". Possessive. That's the dumb sign. Eventually, one of my frustrated coworkers taped a sign to the door that said, "Please do not open this door. It is not the bathroom." Of course, people, distracted by their own thoughts and concerns, still didn't notice and walked in. On the back wall, directly across from the door, the coworker hung a sign that said, "We asked you not to open the door. Great, now the radioactive lemurs that thirst for human blood are lose in the store and probably eating someone's children. Thanks a lot!" That was a good sign, in my opinion....
At my Grandmother's church they had a sign in the parking lot that said that "improperly parked cars will be spirited away."
It's Literacacy Night!
Interestingly, the webmaster got it wrong in the url too.
And they say KIDS have spelling problems.
I wouldn't want to send my kids to that school!
Most of those signs I'm certain are fakes...
I can vouch for the Bat Cave, NC sign, driven by it many times, it is a real town.
