One of the guys at work let it slip that he took a computer on his honeymoon. No, not a laptop, a Computer. With a 17 inch monitor.
He downloaded the first two seasons of their favorite show, and took the computer so they could watch. I guess his wife's a geek, too, since she thought it was a great idea.
OK, don't keep us in suspense!!!! What show?
Sex in the City. Ba-DUM dss!
You know yor're a geek when you can make jokes in base 13 and/or bianary.

..if you can read ROT13.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world:
Those who know binary,
And those who don't.
BTW, mei, I didn't mention it earlier, but it's good to see you back here!
There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count, and those who can't.
Thank you! ScottN will be here all week!
I just heard that counting joke at work a few days ago! Was it on a recent tv program or something?
...if you consider spirit gum and chain mail a business expense.
...if during a bingo game you hear "B-5" and your reaction is ", I forgot to set the VCR!"
...if you ever had your girlfriend dress up as Xena or your boyfriend dress up as Gabrielle.
Thanks, ScottN. I get busy sometimes and don't log on. But I always remember my home.
For the record, the show he taped was Alias. As I said, he and his new wife thought it was a great idea.
. . . you're a poster to Nitcentral.

You know you're a geek when . . . you're a poster to Nitcentral. --Todd Pence
Hey, I resemble that remark!
So, does the use of emoticons & formatting make me even geekier?
..when you have a Sun Enterprise E450 as an in-car MP3 player.
You see an actor on some show, and you not only recognize him from some incarnation of Star Trek or some other science fiction show, you can name the episode he was on and the character he was.
Does it still count if you can't remember his real name? :-) I find there are so many actors called "Old whats-his-name/Thingymybob/You know who I mean".
Oh, I do that all the time: "Ooh, it's him! You know, he was in ... umm ... ooh, hang on ... errm ... I can see his face, and I can almost hear what he's saying ... err ... oh, never mind, it'll come back to me."
Then twenty minutes later in the middle of a totally different conversation: "Stargate Atlantis! He was the bloke in the field in that episode with the thing! You know the one I mean!"
Oh yes! The bloke in the field with the thing! He was good, wasn't he?
And of course, there's movie quotes. That's when you're having a conversation with someone, and they say something which reminds you of a moment in a film/TV programme but you can't remember the quote or the programme. Unless you're playing Specific Movie Quote game, which is when you attempt to link as much as possible of your everyday conversation with a well known Movie. Or telly programme. I used to play "Top Gear" quotes, I went through this huge phase of watching all the TG DVD's I could, and came away with a quote for each bloke.
Richard : This is Lillihammer.
James : Is Molto Bella.
Clarkson : Please, I'm a doctor of engineering twice over.
So anytime anyone said "This", "Please" or just at odd moments for James, I would say the relevant quote. Problem is, people look at you strangely and back away. But anyway, that can get just as frustrating as "Old Thingymybob", particularly when you can't even remember the words, just the tone of voice.
I was watching an episode of Stargate.. the one where Valah looses her memory, and I recognized her boss in the diner... it was the guy who played Bob on "That 70s Show." I wonder if that would still count?
You might be a geek if you need a checklist to turn on the TV.
Well, then I'm officially a geek, then, since I met Mark Margolis, who played Dr. Apgar from A Matter of Perspective(TNG), and asked him he was Mark Margolis, and even he was surprised that someone knew him by name!
I can quote most lines from tos and tng...
they called me Mr. Trek in school. (not geek)
and other niceties
And an obvious redshirt joke shows up in Working Daze...
