Flight Attendant- National Hero ?

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Kitchen Sink: Media (TV, Print, Sports, etc.): Celebrities More Or Less: Flight Attendant- National Hero ?
By Bs on Thursday, August 12, 2010 - 10:05 am:

Don't know where to put this, but-Jetblue is not happy with a certain flight attendant, he has at least thousands of hits on his Facebook since
he went cuckoo.

I wish I had the guts to do what he did!(can I have his job?)

So, what do you think?

By KAM on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 2:22 am:

Wow!

A provocative title that goes unexplained.

An allegation that isn't backed up with any proof.

A claim that someone has done something to warrant attention, but without identifying the person or explaining what exactly it is he supposedly did.

You don't write spam for a living, by any chance?

By Bs on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 3:02 am:

Kam, if you are the mod you can delete it this thread.

By KAM on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 3:08 am:

I know I can delete it. I was just wondering what it was all about since I had not heard anything about it.

By Callie on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 4:17 am:

It was a rather gorgeous story about a flight attendant who, having been sworn at by a passenger one too many times, swore back at her over the tannoy so that everybody could hear it, finished with something like, "That's it, I quit," deployed the escape chute (the plane was still on the ground) and hurled himself out of the plane down the chute! What a fantastic way to quit your job!

By the 74s tm on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 8:13 am:

kam ,try facebook, steve slater. i'm one of his new pals, 220 of them, and he's had 200,000 hits so far!

By Steve Slater Fan on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 8:30 am:

the screaming passenger at the airport was fined for having overweight luggage , Steve saw it (?) and was probably whooping.(or sliding) he got arrested. for what I wonder?

or something like that anyways.Steve will know.

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 1:34 pm:

Keith, the story is detailed here. I'm surprised you didn't hear about it.

People are talking about him wanting his job back, and what career opportunities he has in front of him.

It reminds me of the old saying, Sometimes, when God closes a door, he opens up an emergency escape chute and slides down to the tarmack....

By KAM on Saturday, August 14, 2010 - 1:58 am:

That is a funny story. Thanks, guys!

By Steve Slater Fan on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 5:04 pm:

so far, I've had 493 hits for a certain article about Steve Slater!

By Steve Slater Fan on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 - 9:35 am:

I have had 673 hits since 8am pst, since one certain person didnt know this! (maybe you should do pushups for a certain grocery store., and I was no rehire!)

By Callie on Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 2:20 am:

Is he a hero? People are a bit too fond of throwing that word around but in the words of Inigo Montoya, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Of course people think his story is brilliant. Everyone who hates their job would love to go out in a blaze of glory like that, but even he seems to have realised that he went too far and now wants his job back. That's not very heroic, is it?

And the dictionary definition of "hero" is someone "distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength." Where does Slater fit into this definition?

Not a hero, IMO - just a man who lost his temper and over-reacted, and did so in public where lots of people saw it and thought his behaviour was fun.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 2:29 pm:

He had his bikes stolen the other day. More here.

By Steve Slater Fan on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 10:00 am:

Steve Slater,Hero.

By ScottN on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 11:27 am:

So you're a linkspammer?

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Saturday, September 04, 2010 - 9:55 am:

With this device, quit your job JetBlue Steven Slater style!

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Saturday, September 04, 2010 - 4:57 pm:

How are you supposed to get on it if you're wearing it?

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Saturday, September 04, 2010 - 7:13 pm:

I'm pretty sure it's a joke, John. You can even tell that the second image, which shows the extended chute deployed from the pack, is photoshopped onto the image of the guy, because the image of the guy appears to be identical to the image of him without the chute. :-)

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, September 05, 2010 - 6:39 am:

I'm sure it is. It's clever...but unrealistic.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Sunday, September 19, 2010 - 10:08 am:

So why is this board in Nitcentralia?

By KAM on Monday, September 20, 2010 - 1:41 am:

Probably because Bs didn't know where it should go, & it stayed there because I didn't think about moving it until you said something.

Thanks! :-)

Moved.
