Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Comic books: Licensed Properties (Comics based on Movies, TV, Video Games, etc.): Transformers

This is for EVERY company that did TF comics, from Marvel to Dreamwave to IDW (the current license holder) to any mini-publishing company in between. There are even fan-made comics as well.

I really liked the original Marvel TF's, especially the Universe profile issues. And then there was Dreamwave, and they did an excellent job with the More Than Meets The Eye official guide series, which profiled every character from Generation One. Unfortunatly, they went bankrupt in the mid-2000's.

These days, IDW is putting out quite a lot of TF material. There's the Spotlights, the Maximum Dinobots and All Hail Megatron miniseries', and they also adapted the classic animated movie and the 2007 live-action movie to comic form. ANd now there are the prequel issues to the new
Revenge Of The Fallen movie.

I hope that others will enjoy these comics like I do. For more information, go to www.idwpublishing.com.

IDW is now putting out an ongoing Transformers comic, which takes place after "All Hail Megatron".

There are also two miniseries: Bumblebee, and Last Stand Of The Wreckers.

If IDW will publish any more Spotlight issues, that remains to be seen.

IDW is now doing a TF miniseries taking place after "Revenge Of The Fallen", but I am not interested in buying it.

Also, there is a new Spotlight, this time for Prowl, who in the 1986 animated movie, was killed by Megatron when he and the other Decepticons broke into the shuttle the Autobots were piloting to Earth in an attempt to acquire more energon. He was one of my favorite characters in the pre-movie cartoons.

Well, now IDW has done the miniseries that adapted the "Dark Of The Moon" movie, as well as it's prequel miniseries. I have not seen the movie yet, and to save money, I will probably not be buying these particular titles.

The previously mentioned ongoing series is still being done, and there have also been a few more various miniseries released since I last posted here. Such as a four issue "Ironhide" series.

Also, IDW Publishing has created a completely new character for it's Generation One-era Transformers comics, an Autobot named Drift. He had his own Spotlight issue, and I believe he also had a miniseries as well.

Seeing as how I have not bought any of the recent TF comics IDW has done, I am not aware of what is happening in the continuity that they are currently doing. Maybe later on I will follow it, but for now, I am sticking to DC and Marvel!
