How can we have a Marvel section and not have an Avengers board?

By KAM on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 - 1:19 am:

What do John Steed & Mrs. Peel have to do with Marvel Comics? ;-)

Probably no one had any nits for the comics or they posted them on the Misc. Marvel boards.

BTW how many Avengers titles has Marvel had? I can think of The Mighty Avengers, West Coast Avengers aka Avengers West Coast, Great Lakes Avengers, GLA, Young Avengers & who knows how many minseries.

The Avengers #176

While walking the streets of New York, Jocasta is seen wearing the Traditional Marvel Street disguise: fedora, raincoat. No scarf or sunglasses, though. It never ceases to amaze me that this disguise actually fools people. When Jocasta rips the costume off, that's when everybody notices she's silver in color. You should still be able to see that even underneath all she was wearing!

Michael/Korvac has psychically caused Starhawk of the Guardians of the Galaxy to be unable to perceive him (Korvac). Yet, at the end of the issue, when Michael/Korvac is growing into his "god" stature, Starhawk like the other heroes is shielding his eyes from the glare. Why would he do that if he cannot, in any way, perceive Michael?

Avengers Assemble!

Perhaps it's more along the lines of "You don't see me... I'm not the superbeing you're looking for... I'm just an ordinary normal." But the glare is a physical effect. If the psychic prohibition is still there, then perhaps Starhawk is thinking, "Darn! There's some really bright glare from {the sun/those lights/whatever}.

Ah. The ol' Jedi Mind Trick bit. Could be. Could be.

Avengers #1:
Ant Man refers to a lead lined vault that radioactive toxic waste is dumped into that will be dumped into the bottom of the ocean. Not a nit, just a Atomic Cafe moment.

Avengers-related Marvel Comic Books now being published:

New Avengers

Mighty Avengers

Avengers: The Initiative

and my favorite, the "Iron Patriot" Norman Osborn-led DARK AVENGERS!

I also like DA because my favorite Marvel character the Sentry is a part of it.

There is also the "Young Avengers", but I don't think they have a regular title anymore.

Avengers v1 #62
The Vision is drugged with the rest of the Avengers... how come if he is an android he should not feel the effects of a sleep drug..

It contained a computer virus? :-)

Don't forget that the Vision was programmed with Simon (Wonder Man) Williams' engrams. At the time, Wonder Man was not a being of pure energy, but considered to be a normal human. The Viz may have, because of his programming, subconsciously reacted as if he was a human being, rather than a synthezoid.

Excelsior!

With the Heroic Age dawning soon, a few of the current Avengers titles will be coming to an end. Such as:

New Avengers
Dark Avengers
Avengers: The Initiative
And also Mighty Avengers, I believe.

There will be a few new ongoing Avengers-based titles debuting in the next few months. Such as:

Avengers
Secret Avengers
Avengers Academy
and Avengers: Prime, which will be bi-monthly.

I, for one, look forward to this new era of Marvel Comics. Like The Man himself, Stan Lee said to the Impossible Man in a story from 2006: "Change Is Good!"

Excelsior, True Believers! :-)

By Kevin (Kevin) on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 - 6:23 am:

They actually brought the Impossible Man back?

By AMR on Sunday, March 28, 2010 - 4:42 pm:

Yep. For that one-off story in the "Stan Lee Meets..." graphic novel. And it was funny!

When was ever ever gone, though?

By AMR on Sunday, March 28, 2010 - 4:43 pm:

That should be "When was *he* ever gone".

By Kevin (Kevin) on Sunday, March 28, 2010 - 7:23 pm:

I looked him up on Wikipedia and discovered he was used a lot more than I had realised. I only remember him from his 70s return (and later read his first appearance from the 60s).

He almost met the whole Marvel staff in his 70s FF appearance where he rampaged through the office.

By Kevin (Kevin) on Monday, March 29, 2010 - 12:22 am:

Sorry. He *also* met, not 'almost' met....

By AMR on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - 3:22 pm:

The Heroic Age is here! And the aforementioned Avengers titles have debuted, as well as a re-booted "New Avengers" series.

I have not read Avengers Academy yet, but so far I like Avengers and Secret Avengers. The two limited series that are tied in to the whole Heroic Age theme are "Age Of Heroes" and
"Avengers: Prime".

The cosmic event happening in Marvel this summer is "The Thanos Imperative", and there will be a new X-Men title debuting soon as well.
