Channel Awesome Fires Noah "The Spoony One" Antwiler

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Kitchen Sink: Media (TV, Print, Sports, etc.): Internet More or Less: Channel Awesome Fires Noah "The Spoony One" Antwiler

Some of you may be aware that I am a fan of the website That Guy With The Glasses. It is part of the internet company Channel Awesome, which also oversees Blistered Thumbs and Inked Reality. I have made references to Doug Walker (The Nostalgia Critic), Lindsey Ellis (The Nostalgia Chick) and Noah Antwiler (The Spoony One). The website was started in 2008 to review many different kinds of media, such as movies, games, music, and comic books. When I discovered the site by accident back in February 2011, I was attracted to it and much of it's content immediately.

I even got to meet both Doug and Noah last summer in Canada (Angry Joe was there as well). I like to tell that to anyone who will listen, much like when I met Stephen King at my local movie theatre in 2000. Both Doug and Noah were very nice and spent time with fans such as myself to answer questions and sign autographs. And Noah even posed for a picture with me before he went to a forum. He didnt need to, but he did, and the photo of us is currently one of my prized possessions.

I have mentioned all of this because Noah Antwiler is currently being the victim of some completely unfair backlash directed against him from another TGWTG contributor. It is a woman, and I will not use her name because frankly, the mere mention of it makes me quite ill and even a bit angry. Things have happened that just spiraled out of control, and led to Noah's dismissal from Channel Awesome. The administrator posted a "farewell message" informing fans of his abrupt departure, and he has essentially been "future endeavored". Which is a euphemism along the lines of "you're fired and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out" kind of thing. It is used by pro wrestling organizations to release various dead weight from their contracts in an attempt for the company to save face and not look like complete a**h***s, essentially. Which is rather ironic, because one of Noah's specialties is posting vlogs about substandard wrestling shows and pay-per-views. I'm sure the irony was not lost on him, as unfortunate as it was.

Anyway, the female contributor to TGWTG in question accused Noah of threatening to sexually assault another female member of the site over a Twitter post a few months back. Noah did apologize to this woman and she considered the matter closed. However, the woman who started the trouble that led to Noah's firing decided to pursue her personal agenda, which was fueled by her inherently dislike of and contempt for Noah, because as many other fans of the site believe, she was jealous of his success and popularity. He had been one of the most consistantly popular contributors to TGWTG since he first joined them, and the woman was upset by this and could not understand why she and other female reviewers were not getting the fanbase and the level of popularity that he had been receiving since his debut. IMO, Spoony was always one of the best all-around reviewers/riffers of truly terrible media, and the woman who clearly was bitter about all of that decided to play the "women have been oppressed and subjugated by men for so long" card in order to start the process that would lead to Noah's termination from Channel Awesome.

However, his fans, including myself, are always able to just go to his own site www.spoonyexperiment.com and check out the content from there. His being released from TGWTG will be a positive thing for his career, I'm pretty sure of that. The sad thing is that the man is suffering from a severe case of depression as well as overall poor health in various areas that I am not entirely clear on. Interestingly, it was around the same time that I first started watching his reviews that he and his girlfriend split up. Many people including myself have been very concerned for his well-being and it this whole extremely maddening situation was definetly not what he needed to go through at this time in his life.

Once again, I will say that the Woman Who I Will Not Name clearly had an ulterior motive when she set forth her personal agenda to punish Spoony for an in-bad-taste Twitter joke THAT HE DID APOLOGIZE TO THE WOMAN HE SAID IT TO. She already went on record that she was OK with his apology and wanted to move on. The TGWTG contributor that caused this s***storm by instigating a witchhunt that caused Spoony to come forth with numerous Twitter posts that did apparently offend some people, this was all because he was extremely frustrated that so many people that used to be fans of his, that were manipulated by a third-rate female internet reviewer with a inherent grudge against men for some reason, were all now turning on him! He was completely gobsmacked that all this was happening to him all of a sudden and lashed out in frustration! Many of you here know me well enough that if this kind of thing had ever happened to me, I would most likely react in much the same way.

So, in closing, I say that Noah Antwiler has been the victim of unfair bullying on the part of this loathsome and contemptable b**** who decided to drudge up one of his old lapse-in-judgement internet posts and use it against him. And for her to also shamelessly manipulate all of his fans on either Twitter or from TGWTG into turning on him is absolutely inexcusable and unforgivable!

You've still got a fan in me, Spoonman! I'll never turn on you like so many others have done!

LONG LIVE THE SPOONY ONE!!!!
