Wow. Now here's a use for adult stem cells you may not have thought of!

I can see that becoming a new branch of cosmetic surgery but I don't see it replacing implants. I like natural myself and I had a friend who got implants that looked and felt pretty natural but lots of woman want fake. They want perky and unmovable ones that look like they are in a pushup bra when they aren't even wearing a bra. Also that could bring a new nuance to the old question of "real or fake?" since they are real tissue from the woman's own body. Also it mentioned that it takes months to achieve the desired size and shape women could get them without it being as noticeable if they didn't want people to realize that they got an augmentation; since it wouldn't be the old situation of a woman taking 2 weeks off and than showing back up from their "vacation" 2 cup sizes larger.

Wonder if they can use a variation of this procedure for, um, "male enhancement"?

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 - 4:01 pm:

Even if it doesn't work it won't stop someone from marketing it.

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 - 4:10 pm:

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Get ready for the late night infomercials, folks!

Bigger lobes?

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 - 3:01 am:

You mean like building more muscle, Benn?

By Benn (Benn) on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 - 8:17 am:

Yeah, that's the ticket.

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 6:05 pm:

Wow. They've created sperm in a lab.

[insert obvious off-color joke here]

The first human clone was created in 1995.

Jesus.

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Sunday, May 23, 2010 - 12:56 pm:

The first artificial life form has been created.

Christ.

By Josh M on Sunday, May 23, 2010 - 2:58 pm:

All right, anything that makes Luigi say a religious epithet cracks me up.

As far as the synthetic DNA in the cell goes, I really hope that our ethics keep up with our knowledge and this is used for beneficial technology like the scientists behind it are saying.

Once again, though, it's great to live in the future. And sometimes a little scary.

By Benn (Benn) on Sunday, May 23, 2010 - 6:50 pm:

Y'know, Luigi's post could be read another way: "The first artificial life form has been created - Christ."

By Benn (Benn) on Sunday, May 23, 2010 - 6:53 pm:

Come to think of it, the one before that could be read, "The first human clone was created in 1995 - Jesus." And it's interesting that the epithets he used when put together become "Jesus Christ". Have you converted on us, Luigi?

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Sunday, May 23, 2010 - 8:57 pm:

LOL to what you guys just said. And no, Benn, I have not converted back. :-)

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - 3:06 pm:

My god, the scientists have finally done it! The most important scientific discovery of our time HAS FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!!!

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Thursday, June 13, 2013 - 10:39 pm:

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled: human genes cannot be patented.

Duh. It's about time a court made that ruling.
