Back in 1995, i was laying down in bed, during a dreary summer afternoon in Pennsylvania. It was overcast and not raining. Suddenly, i heard a tremendous explosion right behind the house, like a bomb was dropped there. Turned out to be lightning.

Back in 1984, me, my mom and my sister decided to take an evening walk to the store. we could hear thunder in the distance (note, when you can hear thunder, you are at risk of getting struck), but went anyway. we got there safely, but when we went back out side to the parking lot, the wind really picked up, and dust was getting blown into our eyes. we retreated back to the store, and the storm really let loose, with heavy rain and lightning. Dad had to come with the car to take us back home. my main concern then was trying to keep my watch from getting wet. :) Around the same time, i was at school. it was near the end of the day and i was looking outside the classroom window. All of a sudden, i heard a loud wooshing noise, and a sheet of dark clouds raced in (I could of sworn they were moving at a couple hundred M.P.H.) and a wild thunder storm began. now here is the really scary/irksome part: many of us had to walk home from school, but instead of keeping us there, we were told we had to leave. this was

(continued) with lightning crashing all around, torrential rain, and high winds. i was told later that trees were blown over in the area blocking one street. thankfully, i didnt walk too far from the school when my mom drove up and took me the rest of the way home. But what the school did was incrdibly moronic, and luckly no one was killed.

In the flood of 95 on Carmel Ca, the fire dept. had us evacuate to lower ground, not higher ground.
The local tv station even had a film clip of me in the evac center when the power went back 3 days later.

My best freind was sent to the center of the flooding, not away from it.
Dam

I was in day camp, when I saw lightning hit a tower about 100 feet away. Scared the **** out of me.

Back in 1990, me and my family went to the Rennasance fair at Mt Hope, Pennsy5vania. It was a great day, and we watched the joust, which was the last and biggest major event of the day. As the joust was nearing its conclusion, I looked up at the sky (it was still day light) and saw a bunch of heavy thick clouds that were approaching. At the end of the joust, the winds picked up substantialy, and thunder could be heard. We went back to the parking lot, and at this point I was getting very nervous and scared, because we were now way out in the open, as the storm was on top of us. We got in the car safely but soon after, The storm let loose. For the next 60 or so miles on the expressway, we were treated to the sight of huge cloud to ground lightning bolts clearly visible over the flat plains of PA. I was facinated by this, but my sister became frightened and crouched behind the passenger seat on the floor for a while. I think we actualy followed the storm because when we got home, the same storm was just --

beginning in our area. This was an incredible experience, on I will remember for life. (Un)fortunately, I live in SoCal now, so I dont get to see much of that anymore. The most impressive storm Ive seen here happened back in November of 2003. CG bolts everywhere, live news footage of direct lightning strikes to transformers, and a huge amount of hail io the South LA area. One of the most memorable things was I saw a guy on an elevated metal walkway holding an umbrella up as all this was going on! I yelled up to him about it, but he was very calvair about it.

I stood in my apartment in San Bernardino with the windows shut, when I heard a faint zipper sound lowering in pitch. It was comming from *inside* the livingroom. When the pitch got very low, a lightning bolt hit about a quarter of a mile away and the zipper sound stopped. It was very bizarre to say the least.
