As most you may (or may not) know, Mrs. ScottN recently passed away from ALS -- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

I'm a great uncle. My nephew and his wife had a daughter in November. She shares my birthday, too. It's a happy and sad occasion for me. My dad died this past April, without ever knowing his first great-grandchild was on the way.
