While I've debated deleting this since there are so few active mods, I'll give updating a chance.
Can existing mods please post and let me know you still are around and what boards you are doing?
Still here! Moderating Babylon 5, Stargate, MST3K, Farscape and Primeval.
It's not a hard job these days ...
Butch Brookshier here. I'm still modding the following.
The Twilight Zone
PC Games
Action Figure
Sci-Fi Novels
Non-Scifi Novels
Red Dwarf is run by Judi Jeffreys.
Doctor Who is run by Emily Carter.
Friends is run by Rodney Hrvatin.
I know them all because they're fellow Doctor Who fans.
I also run Enterprise and Futurama.
I do Movies, PM and LM, thought barely anyone posts on the latter two.
Just Star Wars for me.
I technically moderate Spider-Man boards, although I honestly haven't done much in a long time with them. There doesn't seem to be much traffic in the boards there with only occasional groups of posts though.
I'm still the Lost Mod (the show. I'm not lost myself. Not always, anyway). Not much I've had to do, as there hasn't been a new post there since January, but I still have moderator privileges.
Good to see more active mods then I thought were around.
Any more?
Red Dwarf is run by Judi Jeffreys.
Doctor Who is run by Emily Carter.
Friends is run by Rodney Hrvatin.
I know them all because they're fellow Doctor Who fans.
Thanks Tim! Yes I'm still alive and it's sheer chance I spotted this thread because HONESTLY, why should I look ANYWHERE except in the Doctor Who section? In fact, why should ANYONE EVER look ANYWHERE other than the Doctor Who section...?
One has to admire your dedication to the cause
Why, Emily? Maybe because YOU'RE A MODERATOR????
After all, even the Doctor checks relevant news from time to time.
And I'm now the Moderator of the Star Trek TOS forum.
Congrats, Tim!
Well done. Thank you for stepping up when it was needed.
The recent trouble we had the Cemetery thread made me realize that the ST: TOS forum had been without an active Moderator for far too long (he hasn't logged in for five years now).
So, I got in touch with Phil, and the rest is history.
Congrats!
And you have my condolences. ;-)
Welcome to the Mod team, Tim.
Wow, no TOS Mod for 5 years? I hadn't realized.
Yeah, I know. So that is why I stepped up.
TOS is mostly a quiet forum, so I shouldn't have too many headaches
Challenge accepted.
When did Barney Stinson join this site
Who?
Barney Stinson was a character, played by Neil Patrick Harris, on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
Challenged accepted was one thing he often said, so I just assumed you were imitating him.
@Callie, shouldn't that be the Mod Squad, not the Mod Team?
Oops, sorry, didn't realise it was poetry day - Tim, welcome to being a Mod Bod! ;)
Yeah, it rhymes nicely.
Mod Squad was a '60s TV show where three young "hip" teenagers were recruited as undercover cops.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mod_Squad
Never seen it, but I have heard of it.
(lisa simpson and lionel hutz)"you're a modern day Clarence Darrow!" "Uh, Was he the black guy from "The Mod Squad"?"
And now I also Moderate the Star Trek Novels forum as well.
Someone should update the above list to include this info.
Updated.
Anyone know of any other changes to make?
Space Precinct - no Moderator at this time
Don't even know why that forum was created. In the decade or more of its existence, there hasn't been a single post!
I am now the moderator of the Quantum Leap board.
Light duty
Yeah, but Tim is still hoping that the next leap, will be the leap home to Canada ;)
All the forums here, except Doctor Who, of course, are light duty.
Another update. As of last week, I became the new Mod of the Red Dwarf forum.
Congrats Tim. See you've hit the ground running. Great work.
Thanks, Rodney.
Another update. As of today, I am the new DS9 moderator.
Congratulations, Rodney.
Thanks, not anticipating many problems- fingers crossed!
Challenge accepted.
I don't think there will be any problems.
Famous last words
Okay, I think I've got this updated with the latest info.
Looks good.
Let it be henceforth known that I am the moderator for Religious Musings....
Oh, sure, give me more work to do updating the list...
*sigh*
;-)
Don't blame me! Blame a certain poster that doesn't know when to quit....
Many of the Mods on this list haven't logged in for years (some haven't been heard from since 2003). Go pull up their profiles and you'll see what I mean.
I think their names should be removed.
And there is one Roving Mod left, Butch.
Maybe Phil should just appoint myself and Tim as roving mods.....
Good idea, Sir Rodney.
We should have a check-in, see who from the list are still around.
Some have not been heard from in nearly twenty years.
The problem is that many of them never made any announcements that they were leaving. They just disappeared. Foe example, my predecessor at the TOS forum hasn't been heard from since 2013. So, from that point, until I took over the forum in 2018, the TOS forum effectively had no Mod.
The same has happened with a few other forums, the original Mod left and no one took over (at least Luigi did announce he was stepping down).
As far as I know, the only Mods still around, not counting myself, are:
Emily
Callie
Rodney
Keith
Butch
JD (who has just returned from self imposed exile)
Natalie
Also, Butch is the last Roving Mod.
Did I miss anyone?
Adam is still around. I think CCabe USED to be a mod, but he's still around. Josh M is still around, Gordon Lawyer is still around. Looks like the number of mods outweighs the number of non-mod posters.
Yay! I'm special!!!!! [hehe]
Let's Go with Scottso
I'm still around. I rarely post messages now-a-days though. I do usually read messages if it's for a show I've watched/watch though.
I modded the Spider-man board years ago. However, we're talking a long time ago. This was when the 90s cartoon on Fox was still around or shortly after.
I don't think I've seen posts on it in a long time though. Even the movies from the past 20 years have boards under the movies forum.
I apologize for not saying much (if I even said anything) over the years. I know it's not an excuse but it's one of those things where I don't think about it much unless something reminds me of it. An example being now, another being if I saw a message on the Spider-Man section. Since I don't recall that happening much if at all, I ended up not thinking about it that often (if at all).
Like a smelly fart, I'm still hanging around...
I'm here.
Didn't realize that so many of you were still around.
Still here. Like a bad penny.
I can see why a lot of Mods don't come around much anymore.
When your forum has seen little to no activity since Dubya left office, there is no need to constantly monitor it.
Well the mods were avid posters and fans of the board like anyone else, I think people were drawn to the discussion instead of the duty of modding.
Not like Lost needs much attention these days. Though I did go through and correct typos/awkward episode summaries.
Time to update the list again.
As of today, I'm the Moderator of the Political Musings forum.
Keith, you can remove Natalie AKA Judi from the Moderator Directory. After what went down yesterday, she is no longer a Moderator.
See here for details:
Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Crime and Justice Shows: The Kitchen Precinct: Miscellaneous Law&Order Board Comments
Let me know if I've missed any.
Wish I could say I'm surprised by her backsliding, but I'm not.
A year ago, I said:
quote:And there is one Roving Mod left, Butch.
Welcome aboard, Tim.
Thanks, Butch.
Good day all. Could the Voyager Mod, or one of the Roving Mods, please delete my post in the Jeri Ryan as 7 of 9 post today (3/20/22), or at least the first paragraph? I haven't even watched Picard so I really have no place commenting on it. I'm sure to show off my ignorance elsewhere soon enough. Thank you
Done.
Your second paragraph was not as offensive, so I left it there.
Thank you Tim. Appreciate it. Apologies
No problem
