The Higgs-Boson has been confirmed.

Speaking of Physics

The Young Sheldon episode "A Political Campaign and a Candy Land Cheater" has Sheldon say Physics is the undisputed king of science,
Sheldon may have a point Physics is indeed a very challenging complex Science, the opening to this
Young Sheldon episode
Adult Sheldon Cooper is doing his Narration saying
"Not all Science is created equal. There's physics, The undisputed King of Science. There's chemistry, It's no physics but it's not a bad way to pass a rainy afternoon. And then there's biology, The squishiest of the sciences"
In real life do we think Physics is the King of Science

By ScottN (Scottn) on Monday, January 17, 2022 - 8:32 pm:

All science is applied physics.

And once again, THERE IS NO "WE". Everyone here has their own opinion, there is no hive mind. STOP ASKING THAT!!!!!

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 - 5:41 am:

Jeff clearly thinks we're been assimilated by the Borg.

By Jeff Winters (Jeff1980) on Thursday, February 24, 2022 - 11:33 am:

My Bad, it just seems Physics is infinitely more complicated than other forms of Science.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Thursday, February 24, 2022 - 1:37 pm:

You're missing the point. THERE IS NO "WE". There is no NitCentral hive mind. Stop asking what WE think!!! Tell us what YOU think, instead.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Thursday, February 24, 2022 - 1:39 pm:

And as for Physics vs other sciences...

Chemistry is a result of the way electrons behave in atoms and molecules. This behavior is in compliance with the rules of quantum mechanics, thus one can say that Chemistry is applied Physics.

Similarly, to some extent, Biology can be described as applied chemistry.

Meanwhile, Mathematicians are laughing their @sses off.

Give it up, Scott, there is no reasoning with this guy.

Since Rodney has cracked down on his nonsense posts in the Religious Musings section, Jeff thought he could do it in the Legal Musing section, since it has no Moderator.

He thought wrong, as I have closed all the threads he posted his nonsense in, and will not hesitate to do so in the future if need be.

In fact, I'm thinking of shutting that whole forum down to posting, until such time as it gets a full time Moderator. Any volunteers?

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, February 25, 2022 - 10:51 am:

To be fair to him, he actually was on topic for those boards, and gave his opinions, rather than asking what we thought.

By Jeff Winters (Jeff1980) on Friday, February 25, 2022 - 5:19 pm:

Thanks, Scottn, I was on topic and on point for the Religious Discussions , but why would Mathematicians be laughing their @asses off ?

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, February 25, 2022 - 6:36 pm:

Click the xkcd link above.

Physics can be considered (to some extent) applied math.

A spectrum's red shift can be either from extreme distance, like a quasar, or from a strong gravitational field, like a neutron star.
How do we distinguish the two? How do astronomers know they're looking at one and not the other?

By ScottN (Scottn) on Saturday, August 06, 2022 - 6:57 pm:

It depends. It may be possible due to the fact that redshift is a function of velocity, where gravitational effects are a function of acceleration.

However, there is no way to tell if a redshift is due to an accelerating body vs. a gravitational effect. The Equivalence Principle applies here -- there is no way to distinguish between acceleration and a gravitational field.
