This happens to be one of my favorite sites, and contrary to what people may think, its far more than people goofing of on camera. There is a lot of footage fropolitical demonstrations and the views and realities shown, unedited, that would never make it to network tv. I feel this will help loosen the stranglehold that big media has on television. On that note, I think the current wave of hype over conventional TV (hi def this, plasma, big screen, a zillon channels, blah blah) is the last roar from it before it starts to sink fast. Conventional tv as a concept seems very primitive and outdated compared to broadband internet video
It is a great site. Here's hoping google doesn't frak it up.
This can't be a proper YouTube board without a link to arguably the most awesome homegrown video ever posted there.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Pachelbel's Canon in D Major, for electric guitar.
Canon Rock
Fantastic! And having read some of the comments, I don't care if it's a fake or not - somebody played it, and whoever it was, it's a brilliant piece of playing.
It's not a fake.
At least IMHO. :-)
Actually, I've recently heard (on the Dr. Demento Show of all places) that it is indeed a fake. Make of that what you will.
Well, until we get Funtwo to play a live version, we'll never know for sure.
Obviously he was accompanied by somekinda drum machine/backup band, but I'm sure the licks were his own. Awesome.
This is apparently the 'original' version as done by the arranger of the piece.
Here's the resynched Funtwo version, without the audio lag.

I think I prefer Funtwo's, although JerryC deserves major kudos for composing it.
I thought the first one I saw was fine. (funtwo's)
You can hear funtwo's playing better, but JerryC seems to have a lot more fun playing it!
Now I gotta try that on my tenor sax...
It was 250 ms off, so totally grating. ;-D
YouTube doesn't turn a profit. I wonder if it'll become the first cultural phenomenon to die of monetary starvation...
No it won't die. It will turn into YouTube 2.0 after getting bought up by Google.
Google has a few zillion dollars to keep YouTube alive.

Don't talk to me about YouTube right now. As a Brit, I'm now denied access to all its premier music videos because YT has had a row with the British Performing Rights Society. I don't know who's in the right; I don't care. I just want music videos back! *pouts*
I feel your pain Callie. On a nudist board that I post to somebody posted a link to a BBC Horizon documentary about the sociological aspects of nudity and body shame. Since I'm not in the UK it was denied access to watch it on the BBC's website and had to jump through no small amount of hoops to watch it on my computer.
One You Tube channel I like is fronted by car mechanic Scotty Kilmer. He gives a lot of great tips. But, in one video, he's seen replacing a radio in a (I think) 2001 vintage Nissan Frontier or Xterra. (It's what my brother has, as I got him a new car radio for Christmas in 2009. Which has since quit. ) The radio he takes out of the car is a Kenwood, and he replaces it with a JVC. But, he uses the wiring harness and plug for the Kenwood with the JVC. Which shouldn't fit. Maybe the radios come from the same factory, I don't know.
Trek FM interviewed Phil which is available on YouTube:

Ever wanna watch something on YouTube and run into the "Sign in to confirm your age" wall. What the hell good is that? Don't they realize that you can just LIE about said age and they have no way of proving it.
When Yahoo! went sniffing around Dailymotion, the French Government told them to get lost. Why couldn't someone have done the same with YouTube to keep it out of the hands of Google?
It jay be that way in Canada but not in every country. I have to use my phone, which is tied to my citizen/alien number which has my birthyear.

Here seems like the most appropriate place to put this.

My first thought for green turtle guy was Gamera. ;-)
I wonder what YouTube would be like if they'd told Google to get lost.
Guess we'll never know.
