Logan's Run #2
I now have the entire Logan's Run series that Marvel published back in 1977.
#2 has demonstrates that writer Dave Anthony Kraft flunked math. Logan is 26 years old. At the age of thirty, everyone has to go through Carousel for a chance at renewal. The computer that runs the City sends Logan on a mission to find out what Sanctuary is and to destroy it. So it shaves years off Logan 5's life palm indicator, in effect making him legally 30 years old.
Throughout issue 2, Logan keeps saying that five years of his life have been stolen. No, Dave. If Logan is 26 and his life indicator has been bumped up to thirty, then he's lost four years of his life.
Excelsior!
More nits from the Logan's Run series Marvel published:
#6 contains a recap of the series' adaptation of the movie. On page 7, panel 4 is a glimpse of the final battle between Francis 7 and Logan 5. Note that Logan's hair is miscolored brown, while Francis' hair is colored yellow. Francis was the one with brown hair. Logan was a blonde.
From all evidence, the cubs in Cathedral are not only wild, but pretty much poverty stricken. They have very little in terms of food, clothing, etc. Yet, they seem to have an endless supply of the drug Muscle. Where do they get it? In cubs it boosts their physical abilities. In people over 16, it gives them the shakes. So obviously the older people aren't manufacturing it. It serves them no purpose. Therefore, the cubs must make it. But where do they get the supplies? How did they learn how to make it?
In issue #7, Jessica is kidnapped by the cubs. Logan goes after her. After finding her and her kidnappers, the cubs, he agrees to fight the leader of the cubs, Billy, to determine who gets to keep Jessica. Logan wins. Billy refuses to accept this outcome, so he grabs Logan's dropped blaster. Angel, another of the cubs, does not approve. She throws a dart at Billy's hand which holds the blaster. That hand is Billy's right hand. The dart strikes to top of Billy's hand. Angel is one hell of a shot, because she stands on Billy's left hand side. Therefore the dart should have either struck Billy's left hand, or the palm of his right hand, not the back of his right hand.

Benn, ...Logan is 26 years old. At the age of thirty, everyone has to go through Carousel for a chance at renewal. Wouldn't it have to add 5 years instead of shave them off? Or did I misunderstand how this works?
I meant to say that it stole 4 years of his life. (Five years would mean that the time for renewal would be at the age of 31. The "five years" comment in #2 is a nit.) The computer took (shaved off) four years from his life clock indicator (located in the palm of the hand). It added four years to his life. It's a matter of perspective. I went with the life clock perspective, because the computer could (and did) affect that. It cannot actually affect Logan 5's real age. Make sense?

I'm guessing this was based on the movie, not the TV show.
As I understand it they licensed the rights for the movie, but there was... 'confusion' over their continuing the story. I think the studio thought it was movie only, but Marvel thought they had the rights for an ongoing.
I also believe that Marvel recycled a finished Logan's Run comic story (drawn or mostly drawn), changing names, etc., and ran it as a standalone story in a science fiction magazine they published.
Well, the story could continue with Logan and Jessica having new adventures (like they did on the TV show).
And there were two follow-up novels to the original Logan's Run novel, Logan's World and Logan's Search, and a novella, Logan's Return.
I've heard of them.
But most of my LR knowledge begins and ends with the movie and TV show.
The co-author of Logan's Run was also working on a sequel, Jessica's Run, when he passed away.
There was a planned remake of the movie and two novels would have been released to coincide with that, but I don't think that ever happened.
There were also some Logan's Run comics from Malibu and Bluewater.
How good they are, I couldn't say.
Thanks for the info.
