Lyta no longer seems like a child.

I think that Byron pulls one of the stupidest things ever tried in this entire series with his little "ultimatium". During the whole episode I was seriously wondering if he had become a little unbalanced.

He did seem to act a bit naive didn't he. Did he HONESTLY think that the Ambassadors would be really happy with what his people were doing?

He didn't think they would be happy. He figured that they would go along for the reason that most go along with blackmail, because it's easier to pay off a blackmailer than it is to deal with your dirty laundry being aired for the world.

Personally I don't understand why Sheridan just shouted Byron down in the council meeting when he said that telepaths deserved a world to of their own. I guess it was because Byron lied to get in there in the first place; he told Garibaldi that he had info on the mysterious attacks on cargo ships but it's hardly the worst breach of protocol we've seen on B5. Would it have killed Sheridan to let Byron finish his speech before admonishing him for his breach of protocol. If Sheridan had started shouting after Byron started talking about the blackmail I could understand, but up until that started Byron seemed pretty sensible.

I guess I don't understand Byron's approach either. He opens with blackmail. Why threaten to blackmail people for something that they might well give you if you just politely ask for it? The Minbari have been in space for 1,000 years and Delenn is sympathetic to their cause. Surely her people know of some far flung, uninhabited, calss-M planet that could work. It's already been established that Minbari consider telepathy to be a gift & hold telepaths in high regard. For that matter, why lie to Garibaldi to get in to address the council in the first place? Just tell him what you want to ask for; this is all contingent on not opening with blackmail of course. Even if Garibaldi refuses to cooperate (possible given his feelings on telepaths) go speak directly to Sheridan; he was the one who allowed the telepaths to set up a colony on B5 in the first place. He's surely be willing to grant an audience to the guy he made the agreement with. Or if not him than Delenn; they both wonder around the station with no major security guards around them all of the time; they know who Byron is. They wouldn't just tell him to "****-off" if he approached them.

Once Byron had a way in to the council he should have just asked for a planet for telepaths to call their own. As I said before they might have even given him one. And if they didn't than he could have pulled out the blackmail angle. From a pragmatic standpoint it's easier to ask for something in "good faith" before resorting to threats. Under threat people will often refuse things that they would have happily done for nothing if they had been politely asked in the first place.
