The first episode to really show a human side to Bester. It was refreshing.
I liked his little line when his Fury boards B5 and he see's the armed guards
'I might get the feeling that someone around here doesn't really like me"

When Sheridan first encounters Bester's fighter, he keeps his distance so Bester can't scan him. Good idea.

So why when they dock at B5 does he allow Bester to tailgate him into the docking bay?

It seemed most unlike the Shadows for the mothership to flee, letting their supply ship be taken, just because a telepath was aboard the White Star. The White Star was a sitting duck. In later episodes, the Shadows are willing to fight telepath-equipped ships when there is far less at stake.

In medlab, Bester's Psi-corps badge gets blasted, but in the next scene, he's wearing a clean badge. Does he carry a spare, or did that blast not damage it?

Great line:
Sheridan: So how did you find out about all of this?
Bester: I'm a ... telepath. Work it out.

Some great moments:
After explaining to Sheridan why he shouldn't kill him, Bester was to sit waiting in his fighter while Sheridan 'thinks about it'.

G'Kar's realisation that "some must be sacrificed so that all can be saved" was about the past, as well as the future, and Deleen's tears as she listens to him.

Actually I thought it was Bester's starfury going in first as he had the older aurora and Sheriden was in a thunderbolt 2.

But that's no ordinary telepath. That's Bester. In the episode where they first use telepaths to fight Shadow ships (can't recall the title), they were using Lyta Alexander, who as a measly P5, was able to stop one of their ships. Imagine what a P12 could do with a lone Shadow ship.

By Sophie on Monday, August 25, 2003 - 1:27 pm:

There are 3 Starfuries in the docking sequence. Sheridan is in front, Bester is in the middle, and another thunderbolt 2 brings up the rear. I just double checked.

I take the point about Bester being a P12. I was thinking that the Vorlons enhanced Lyta beyond P12, but she hasn't really grown into her new powers at this point in the story.

I forgot to mention that when trying to rescue the Carolyn in medlab, the crew use the time-honoured technique for calming a frightened person trapped in a dark place... they shine bright lights in her face!

Also, the Shaodw ships were in Hyperspace. An EA General Endgame that every battle that's ever been fought in Hyperspace has ended badly for both sides.

It is mentioned at some point (maybe in this episode) that telepathic powers work better in hyperspace than in normal space. Certainly Bester seems quite able to track the transport over a huge distance in hyperspace, yet is unable to identify Sheridan as the pilot of the Thunderbolt because it was outside visual range.

Now if a T5 can stop a Shadow ship in normal space, I'm guessing that the Shadows didn't want to find out what a T12 could do to one of their ships in hyperspace.

(It was that or the Shadows scanned the White Star, screamed 'Oh my God that's Checkov! Kirk will be along any second now!' and ran away.)
