Mr. Morden

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Babylon 5: The Zocalo (aka the Kitchen Sink): The Characters: Mr. Morden

This isn't strictly B5, or strictly Mr. Morden, but I wanted to post it somewhere and this seemed to fit best.

A recent "Touched By An Angel" episode fetured a man who sold his soul to the devil. At one point, caseworking angel Monica is trying to convince the man to ask God for help, and the devil(in Monica's form, no less) is trying to convince him to commit suicide. The devil says "What do you want?" and sounds like almost like Morden. I started laughing; I guess evil never really changes. :)

I know they say it wasn't, but I still like the idea that it was Mordan in "The Gathering." Think about it. The only main character that saw him was Takashima, and she was the bad guy. Well it works for me.
On the subject of "Touched by an Angel." I'll admit I don't watch the show so I might have missed it if they did. Was it ever explained why the main characters are female? I'm honestly not trying to start anything here but it does seem odd that mostly when we see an angel it is a she. Yet you can go from one cover to the other of any version of the Bible and you will never find one female angel. Again I'm not trying to stir up any religious or gender war things here, but it does seem odd that this is never addressed. Infact does anybody know of any movie/show/book were it is?

"Touched By An Angel" has a male star, John Dye, as Andrew the Angel of Death. There have also been many male guest-starring angels, including Sam the Secret Angel(Paul Winfield), Raphael(who is Hispanic), the Angel of Reconciliation(played by Bill Cosby), and two other Angels of Death.

We now return this board to Mr. Morden.

Vir looked up at Mordens' head on the stake, waved his tiny little wave, and grinned. That grin was just perfect. I love character actors who bring great little touches to their work. Furst will never be a leading man but he will always add to whatever part he does. No, I've never met the guy.

Another thing I liked as I watch it was the whole way it was presented.
Vir: I want to live JUST long enough to see your head on a pike...
And sure enough just as he sees Morden's head on a pike and waves the planet kill eclipes the sun. Leaving us to wonder if he really is going to live "just long enough."

I bought the Season 2 box set, & managed to access the "Easter Egg" within, in this case the Season 2 "Blooper Reel". Amoungst the flubs, clockwork powered Starfuries etc, there's a sequence in which Mr Morden is in the Brig.
While Sheriden's arguing if Morden's dead or not, in the background tv monitor, Morden clutches his chest, & "keels over" as Sheriden's continuning his dialogue. It's VERY Funny, indeed !

After seeing the Day of the Dead episode, I think the actor could be a good host for any new version of "The Twilight Zone"

JMS said that when the first came in audition he and the casting director said to each other "It's Rod Searling" (host and creator of the twilight zone)
