When we first saw the previews for season 5 and saw that Lochley was shown as an enemy and an ally, I was interested. My sister doesn't like her, but I think the movie "River of Souls" was great for her.

Lochley is definately different than the core cast. I like her character, she is kind of a female, Rules and Reg's version of Garibaldi.

She is in my opinion a lot like Seven of Nine, a sex-less, sex-object. Does anyone follow?

Admittedly it's hard to introduce a new character that late in the final act; epically because she was a straight-up last minute addition when Claudia Christian wouldn't sign back on. The problem is that if you make the new character too much like the one they are replacing it comes off as a cheap rip-off. If you make them too different & give them too many clashes with established characters over how they are different than you alienate them to fans.
