I had always thought that JMS dropped several hints that Kosh was living his life backwards in time. The two clues that stick out in my mind are: (1) he showed knowledge of the future on many occassions, which he would possess if he were living his life backwards; and (2) there was a King Arthur-based episode (sorry, the name escapes me) where, at the end, Marcus makes a comment about (I belive) Merlin, just as Kosh walks by (I guess you can't get any more obvious than that!).

Under this theory, I thought they were leading up to a conclusion of B5 that would show Sheridan, at the end of his life, BECOMING Kosh and starting the trip back through his life. Perhaps JMS intended to imply that in Sleeping In Light? That, perhaps, Sheridan evolves to the next step of human existence, energy/Vorlon - or was the implication that no human could really get to that point until the far future, as shown in the Deconstruction of Stars episode.

Comments?

The episode A Late Delivery from Avalon.

Michael York was "King Arthur".

Even before the Deconstruction of Stars episode and especially after it; I had always thought that the Vorlons WERE from the future and traveled back into the past. From that vantage point they lived time as normal and guided the other races. And then seeing a human turning into a Vorlonish creature at the end of the show I was truly convinced by it. After all, time travel was a part of the B5 universe with the whole B4 and Sheridan/Valen incidents. But it looks like that whole plot thread was dropped just like the Bureau 13 thread was dropped. Of course, I still wonder why they never found Valen's body either. Did he transform just like Sheridan did?

Does anyone know why Kosh is only ever listed in the closing credits (at least in the episodes I've seen (admittedly few))?

I think he was listed in the closing credits because the actor was only doing voice work and the encounter suit was run by Special effects techs

The Vorlans did know what was going to happen due to hanging around with Valen a 1000 years ago. They were still successfully deceiving him and he no doubt informed them of the events of the next 1000 years, or learned it telepathically.
