Okay, look, last year I was friends with a guy named Jeff, and he said he played on Babylon 5, which I've never seen. He said he played some kind of first officer along with some aliens.
Could this be him?
NO this guy was a human security officer.
Have you ever seen the TV show Taxi? He was on that show as well. I suspect if it was the same Jeff, he might have mentioned that as well.
You can see pictures of Jeff Conaway as Zack Allen in his Babylon 5 role here.
Thanks. I checked out the pictures. Wrong guy. But man...is this weird or what? Are there any other Jeffs in the show?
Maybe a background character or something, but no other regulars or major recurring actors that I'm aware of.
Yes, the title should be "Jeff Conaway".
I've heard that the poor guy isn't doing too good these days. Apparently JMS wanted to use him in "The Lost Tales" but after meeting with him realized that he was a hot mess and it wouldn't work.
He's been battling drug addiction since the 1980s. Years ago I remember watching him on some TV show about "Greece" cast members today saying that his career derailed after "Taxi" because he was addicted to drugs. But than he talked about getting clean, getting the B5 gig and being so glad he got a second chance because he felt that B5 was such a good show that will be remembered like Star Trek long after he's gone.
Apparently he's since fallen off the wagon & started abusing prescription drugs, which can often be as dangerous as street drugs if abused. He appeared on VH1's Celebrity Rehab where he talked about having been severely abused as a child. That's not too much of a surprise as I've seen a few studies that the majority of hardcore addicts were physically or sexually abused as children. I'm not talking about people who party too hard for a few years before getting it together; I'm talking about people who literally drink/drug themselves to death; and from the last pics I've seen of him, it's probably going to be him.
Jeff has certainly survived longer than I expected, what with his drug-taking and then his bad fall down the stairs at home in January which left him with multiple broken bones and a brain haemorrhage. I really thought that that one would kill him but he seems to keep fighting back, bless him. It's sad to see him looking so ravaged these days, but I guess he's the only one to blame in the long run.
Jeff died on Friday. Such a shame, and a horrible waste of a life. RIP Jeff.
