Thank you! I'll be back soon to post my opinion of this very cool book.
Re-coking?? Bester had a lot of faults, but to the best of my knowledge, coke wasn't one of them, and definitely not for a second time!
Callie, LOL!
Nit:
On pg. 1, Garibaldi is talking to Thompson and mentions a time when Talia "slapped" him. It's probably just a better term for what he wants to get across to the telepath, but if we're going to be precise, Talia did not slap Garibaldi. She slammed her elbow into his stomach (see "Mind War").
Sorry, that's "page 163". :-)
Excellent conclusion!! Bester's fate is poetic justice.
My only complaint is that I would have liked to have had some details on both the Telepath War, and Lyta's death. Other than that, I enjoyed the series.
I read somwhere that this book and portions of Deadly Realtions, specifically the incident involving his crippled hand, were orginnally JMS's script for a B5 big screen movie. Does anyone know if this is ture, and can they confirm this?
Now *that* would have been cool!
So just to get my timeline down...
This book mentions a telepath civil war that took place before the events of Crusade. That makes sense, because in Crusade we see reference to the new PsiCorp protocols.
But there's also reference to an ultimate war between telepaths and mundanes. Did that ever happen? If so, when?
Also, I think we here in this book that Lyta has died. Did we ever find out how she died?
I'd like to know how! Short of blowing up the planet she's on, I got the impression from Season 5 that anyone tying to kill Lyta was not going to have an easy time!
Brian, perhaps they destroyed a ship she was on. I think she still needed somekind of air to breath.
The Shadow "Anti-Psi" weapon/device mentioned in "The Shadow Within" would dispose of Lyta,
Very well, (as well as any other "Pesky" telepaths in a several Mile/Km radius as a result) IMO.
