Prince of Wails

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Sliders: Season One: Prince of Wails
God Save the Queen and our Sliders in a world where England won the Revolution and our United States of America become the British States of America. The local Arturo has a murderous plot to end the monarchy and the Sliders find themselves torn between supporting the tyranny of monarchy or the anarchy of homicide. After allying themselves with the local terrorists (similar to the IRA) known as the "Oakland Raiders," they manage to kidnap one of the British-American royalty, and convince him that it's time for a change. As they slide away, the Prince makes his TV speech that Arturo and Quinn helped him with - the brand new Bill of Rights.

Fox was really dumb airing this episode before "Summer Of Love" since the beginning of this one picks up where "Summer.." left off.

If British culture is so ingrained, then why wouldn't it be everywhere? The phones have the wrong ring-cadence - it should be two short bursts at close intervals. Also, they should drive on the left.

Either that, or the colonies have a considerable amount of autonomy as a "safety valve" to discourage another rebellion. "You can do your own thing as long as you accept a prince as your supreme governing official, and his appointed sheriffs as your head of government, pay your taxes, and make proper respects to your prince and his officials".

Did they land on the moon yet in that world?

"On behalf of his gracious majesty, George the Eighth, I proclaim that this is one small step for a gentleman... an enormous leap for humankind and for the British Empire."

The BBC anchor is shown marveling at the achievement by astronaut Ernest Shackleton, who is soon joined on the surface by Mawson, while Robert Scott remains in orbit over the moon.

Mawson and Shackleton plant the Union Jack on the surface, then risk life and being marooned to extend the knowledge of science before returning to the landing craft to attempt the return home. (Kind of like the Antarctic expeditions of the early 20th century.) The Discovery XXII spacecraft then lifts off to rejoin the mother ship for the return to Earth for splashdown in the North Sea (and instead splash into the Black Sea and are captured by the Russians).
