I'd ASSUME because the Production Team just couldn't face referencing the Colin Baker era, only given that they had That Coat wandering around Name of the Doctor, I'm obviously wrong.

I don't have the hatred for Moffat that some do, but it is time for a change.

I actually have no problems with the concept. A complete regeneration of the Doctor cannot happen from the actor's side only, the production team itself must be refreshed from time to time, up to and including the main creative force at the top, or the show will eventually degenerate into an eternal and boring retelling of its past glory days.

I actually don't, although I'd recommend steering clear of anyone with Hollywood credentials. And seing what he did with the Five'ish Doctors, maybe Peter Davison could be involved, on some level, for a while at least.
Mark Gatiss would do a brilliant job. He GETS Who. I would, however, humbly suggest that IF he were to take over, then he needs to step down from writing and producing "Sherlock" (sorry Callie).....
