Why not? It would be great to see another cultural take on the show.
No it would be an abomination.
It would be appalling. You can be sure they wouldn't follow canon.
Worse: at some point, someone will try to merge them together in a universe-crashing storyline.
This won't happen, due to rights issues.
It would be terrible. Remember the American Red Dwarf pilot?
Remember the American Red Dwarf pilot?
Never saw it, but I have heard of it.
The Cat, which was female in this version, was played by Terry Farrell, who went on to land the role of Jadzia Dax on DS9.
Chris - Remember the American Red Dwarf pilot?
Homeboys In Outer Space?
;-)
Tim - Never saw it
I think you can still find both versions on Youtube. The Red Dwarf board has a thread on it and you can read my thoughts on it over there.
Have to see if I can track it down.
Lawrence Miles (see Twitter) wants to 'Reboot the series with the Time Lords as Hindu gods and the Doctor as Ganesha. Every time he glances in a reflective surface, we see him with the head of an elephant.'
Only he realises we JUST CAN'T DO THIS at the moment cos, y'know, Hindu nationalism.
Marge Simpson: "Maggie loves baby talk!". Manjula: "That was Hindi!".
(Yes this hospital room is still isolated and boring)
STILL in hospital? Are you OK?
Diabetic incident. Stuck in here for a day or two more yet.
Ouch.
Still, at least you have the Internet.
Geez, Natalie I hope it wasn't that bad. I mean I've never had such things happen to me.
This could go other places, and it isn't technically a remake, but I'm putting it here. No Ruth theories please.

So...ALL these 'Stranger' episodes were kept SAFE IN A VAULT?
Not fair not fair NOT FAIR.
That was the series that Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant did, right?
Different series, same name.
Ah
Just saw The Stranger (Australia) Episode 7 and the credited cast includes a Tom Baker but not that Tom Baker!

Good grief.
I agree.
Well, the Doctor in Japanese is more like "dokutaa" than "Doctoru San"
I believe a Japanese Doctor Who appeared in one or two Godzilla movies... ;-)
Sayyy... thanks to The Timeless Children that Doctor Who can be canonized. ;-) (Cue Emily screaming.)
japanese jodie: the master wanted me to say "herrow mistah" in that stupid "asian" accent. An insult to my gender, not to mention my race!

Ugh, don't remind me of Chib-Face's atrocity.
I was pleased to read that the 13th Doctor is dubbed in Japan by Romi Park, who voices a lot of Anime characters and has dubbed a lot of films too.
She voiced Ragyo on Kill La Kill.
Now waiting for Jodie to get a new outfit made of life fibers and Captain Jack, now working for Nudist Beach, has to stop her. ;-)
I dunno... a completely nude Thirteen would be according to the kids watching "The best episode of Doctor Who ever" ;)
11 and Amy in anime:
https://imgur.com/a/aPMDKlN
Amy looks a little too young and 11 looks a little too handsome, but I can see stories done in that style.
Amy: Doctor, what's attacking Tokyo?
11: A mutant Sea Devil, hundreds of feet tall!
;-)
I think it's supposed to be kid Amy
Also I think an anime 'who would be very different, with many cosplay-esque costumes.
The Companions would be Japanese (or of Japanese descent, except the alien ones and maybe Peri and Tegan who would propably be hafu) and have Japanese kanji names, K9 would be Japan-built and more of an animu mascot. The TARDIS would be more of an animu time machine cabin design. But companions from the past\future are still from their time periods and Fivey's kids are still aliens albeit propably less human-looking ones.
BasicaLLy the only ones who propably keep their names are:
Romana\Nyssa\Adric\Turlough (because they're aliens)
K9\Kamelion (because they're robots)
Tegan and Peri propably keep their first names but maybe not their surnames
Leela (because she's from the far future)
Maybe in an anime\Japan context, Dodo is a Zainichi instead of Huguenot, Jamie and Amy are Ainu (and I decided they're Udmurts in a Russia context), Martha could be Blasian or perhaps she's Indonesian? Or maybe Yaz, Rani Chandra, and Nasreen would be Southeast Asian instead.
An anime Doctor Who is very unlikely.
Those pesky rights issues again.
Maybe eventually when it goes public domain or even when it's able to be neural network generated

Those pesky rights issues again.
Rights are not an issue if you have the money to pay the fees, which many anime studios have ample supplies of.
