An interesting article about the declining ratings of Who.
That tweeted chart is impossible to read if you're blue-green colourblind!
The only reason the show hasn't been cancelled is because the Bonehead Broadcasting Corporation doesn't answer to the advertisers like a commercial network does (although that might change if Boris Johnson gets his way).
However, I wouldn't object if the show went away for another hiatus. Oh, Emily would scream bloody murder, but I think the rest of us will manage just fine.
Well, I would be a little bummed out.

Chib-Face: Just one of those confounded Froggies that came over with the Pretender. (A quote from Troughton's "The Highlanders").
If you don't like Doctor Who anymore, stop watching Doctor Who! or at least go and watch classic who.
No-one is forced to endure a fandom they no longer feel any joy from*
*Except Emily and her obsessive (and impressive) consumption of Big Finish, of course.
An excellent point, Crane (I assume this is another one of Natalie's schizoid delusions).
Sadly, people seem to enjoy watching it for no other reason than to trash it- weird form of Schadenfreude I guess.
I think Adam Richard in his 10-minute podcast sums it up brilliantly here.
M Crane is not me.
Please stop accusing innocent people.
Well, I would be a little bummed out.
A LITTLE!

You can't SAY that! We can't AFFORD to lose anyone!

WOULD that it was only Big Finish *glares bitterly at the novels*

Look, sometimes you're in it for the joy. And sometimes you're in it for the nits.
I see you have forgotten (yet again) the "no name calling" thing, Natalie....
I'm sorry. I'll work on my anger.
Schadenfreude
Wikipedia time again.
I am not, nor have I ever been, Natalie - I even criticised one of her comments. If my posts suggest a familiarity with this site, it's because I've been a lurker, far longer than a poster. In fact I usually have the episode page open during my re-watches, maybe I should comment more?
Anyway.. I just happen to agree that 'so-called' fans who are calling for the death of the show should focus their energy elsewhere and let the people who still like it enjoy it. Let the dust from this twist settle and see where the show takes us. In the grand scheme of things "the Doctor is a refugee from another dimension" is still a preferable revelation than "the Moon is an egg".

Ehhhhh... having been a fan of a lot of things that have changed, I would say there is a psychological compulsion to keep enduring it.
Many comic book series I've loved have gone in directions I didn't like and I stuck it out hoping this was just temporary and would course correct before finally just giving up years after they ceased to be good.
There was a TV show called Earth: Final Conflict that I used to watch and nitpick, and as the show went along it got worse and worse and my posts became less and less pleasant until someone (Callie?) called me on it and I realized that everything I liked about the show was dead. Then for the next couple of weeks, I had to fight the addiction of turning on the TV and watching when a new episode aired.
I tried finding those posts a few weeks ago, but I guess the mod deleted them. Probably for the best.
Heck, there was a recent leak(?) about Johnny Depp revealing that even while getting a divorce from his abusive wife he kept hoping that they'd reconcile and become the loving couple they had once been.
So it seems people are programmed to stay with something they once loved well past the point when they should have left.
"The show didn't hit me! I got this black eye from walking into a door!"
KAM, that's exactly why I'm still posting here-- hoping the thing would get better, and then being disappointed. It was worse with the novels-- I actually paid for them and some were so gawdawful that I couldn't wait to re-sell them and get some of my money back.
It's no mystery that I haven't enjoyed the past two seasons, but having watched the show for over 35 years, it's a bloody hard habit to break.
I hung in for every Trek series, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, but it wasn't until Discovery that I actually despised the show, and gave up after a full season.
That's how it was for this past season for me-- I had to see where it went, since I'd invested time into it. I happily ignored season 2 of Discovery and unfortunately, Picard is not what I'd hoped for, and I'm not so sure I'll be there for season 2.
Season 13 of Who, on the other hand, whether it's Chibbles and Whittaker or another duo at the helm, I'll be there, fingers crossed that they can produce something I want to watch a second time.
I take no great enjoyment about criticizing this show, even if it comes across like that. But this is NIT central and when there's a problem with the writing or the story or the plot holes or the characters, I'm going to voice my opinion, like everyone else, which is what the site is all about.
Well I'm hoping Picard Season 3 made up for the boring previous two Steve!
There are eras of the show I'm not mad about and I have said before that I reach for my classic dvds more than the new series (I haven't watched any of the Flux blurays or specials yet except for Power of the Doctor) but I keep watching the new stuff for those moments when I actually remind myself why I love this show for all its faults.
Interestingly, I note that Daniel never bothered to respond to my initial post...
Bloody WATCH FLUX!! Don't you want to know whether or not the universe gets destroyed?!*
(Also, watch Eve of the Daleks. Obviously you've unfortunately gotta see Legend of the Sea Devils at SOME point, but...no hurry.)
*Yeah, OK, so I'm none the wiser after watching Flux three times but hey, you might spot something I missed!
I’ve seen them just not rewatched them.
Ah, that's a relief. I got the impression you'd switched off mid-season and said you'd leave it till the Blu-Rays were out, so when you said you hadn't seen the Blu-Rays...
Would I even DARE to show my face around here if I hadn't watched EVERY SINGLE EPISODE?!?!?
....Grateful that you don't force us to listen to all the audios or read all the novels......
No, but she strongly encourages us to do so.
...or she unleashes her trained horde of cats....
*gets out cricket bat*....
*Please note: I do not advocate violence against cats I was JOKING!!!
I know you're joking as even you aren't so deluded as to think anyone can TRAIN CATS.
Your cricket bat was obviously just a tribute to the Fifth Doctor and I'm sure the imaginary-oochies would enjoy sharpening their darling claws on it, but you know what they'd enjoy EVEN MORE? A replica of the Sacred Scarf.
