A small riff on this otherwise perfect ep.

Colonel White (when he can't contact Scarlet and Blue): It looks bad, Lieutenant. I believe to be the work of the Mysterons. Of course thats what I said when I ran out of clean underwear, but still...

I think Neilson has Captain Indigo's gun, but I'm not sure.

Well Major Reeves uses Scarlet's gun and Dr. Magnus uses Magenta's, so who knows?

By Paul Joyce on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 - 1:45 pm:

I thought this was a great ep - plenty of tense moments, good effects, and one of the best death scenes in Supermarionation.

But a glaring voice nit: When Neilson is talking to Hotspot Control, we see a sweeping shot of the control room and Martin King's voice can be heard talking back to Neilson. However, the only person in the control room is Rhodes - who is voiced by Jeremy Wilkin.

By Kinggodzillak on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 - 3:12 pm:

I assumed that the Martin King chappy who was replying was the guy who was in the reception office (the Jason Smith puppet). I don't think Rhodes' mouth was moving.

I have noticed a lot of music in this episode have been used a lot in Fireball XL5, Stingray and Thunderbirds.
When Neilson was being attacked by the snowstorm was used in The Golden Sea, Treasure Down Below and Atlantic Inferno.
When Neilson fell to the ground was used in The Golden Sea, Treasure Down Below and The Invaders.
When Rhodes said "The ice is closing in." was used in Plant of Doom. When Captain Scarlet saw Neilson's gun was used in Thunderbirds To The Rescue (Trapped in the Sky).
Just before Neilson said "Don't try anything." was used in A Spy in Space.
When we saw Neilson dead in the snow was used in Sabotage and The Invaders.
Quite a lot isn’t it?

There's more to come.
I forgot to mention at the start of the second part of this story it has the sea march used at the very start of The Big Gun and
it also has that footstep to danger music from Give or Take a Million (When the crooks were cutting through the wall)

And one more that I've forgotten, the music used at the very end of this episode was used at the very end of The Golden Sea.

Once again, Captain Scarlet fails to recognize a Mysteron that's right in front of him.

One of those nice little touches--when Captains Blue and Scarlet get into the elevator, they pause for a moment, then Captain Scarlet turns his head and moves his arm. You don't see him pressing the "down" button of the elevator, but you know that's what he's doing.

When the heating elements were disabled, we see the ice start to form up at "ground" level--yet Captain Scarlet comes to the surface in free water. It would have been interesting if he'd had to smash through the ice.

You get the idea that Spectrum is trying to keep the truth about Captain Scarlet a secret from most people, yet Captain Blue tells him, in front of Rhodes, "High voltage is the one thing that can kill you!" Rhodes must have wondered about that.

Apparently, retrometabolized people are immune to the effects of "the bends".

As Captain Scarlet comes into the power station, they show a camera shot from above. Neilson and Scarlet are in clear view of each other. The next instant, all Scarlet can see of Neilson is his gun poking around a section of machinery. Judging from that camera angle, Scarlet should have seen Neilson the moment the door opened.

Didn't Captain Scarlet bring a gun with him? Neilson called to him not to move, as he was coming down. Scarlet had time to turn on the maximum power switch and grab one of the plug-in doohickeys. Why not just shoot Neilson the moment he came into view?

Fortunate that Captain Scarlet remained concious long enough to reactivate things. BTW, if you watch Neilson's arm as he gets off one shot, you might wonder how Scarlet managed to get hit in the chest.

There were three plug-ins, yet we only see Captain Scarlet plug in one.

Considering that the bridge to Hotspot had been totally wrecked, Captain Scarlet probably had time to heal completely before anyone was able to reach him.
