Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Supermarionation: Stingray: Stand By For Action

At the start when Marty says cut or what ever it is, he drops his script book on the floor and in the next shot he's got it back on his chair.

Does Marina go out to see movies a lot? She seemed to recognize the name Johnny Swoonara (pause for a nauseated shudder) at once.

I thought at first that Atlanta and Marina had pretended to faint, in order to tease Troy, which would have been a lot more interesting.

When they showed the rushes of Johnny in uniform, seated in Stingray, I had the impression that his chest had inflated and was on the verge of bursting. I'm not sure why; they showed him standing in uniform elsewhere and he looked normal.

Why would anyone require boats anymore? Just fly your car over the water!

Johnny seemed very pleased with the fact that just talking with women caused them to swoon. (Maybe it's your breath, Johnny?) Makes me wonder just what he would have done with Atlanta and Marina if they had been in a private room, rather than a public bar....

Just how did Phones get to be a crewmember for Stingray, anyway? Is he only capable of listening to the hydrophones and doing precisely what Troy orders him to do? Troy arrives ("Here comes Troy, to save the daaaaaaay...") and instantly everything is under control and they're on their way back to Marineville.

How did Agent X-whatever know that Troy was not on board Stingray? It was originally intended that he should be. I thought that Titan had ordered whatshisname to attack Stingray as a final attempt to kill Troy.

I would have enjoyed the ending better if Troy hadn't stopped for that very smug pose at the bar.

You know, Troy had every right to be infuriated at everyone's attitude. There was a proven MURDER ATTEMPT, for Heaven's sake, and just because the suspect left behind money to complete the film, no one is interested in tracking him down.

BTW, how did Titan (a noted Terraneanphobe) happen to acquire Terranean cash to finance the movie? We're talking millions here. And surely the WASPs (or someone with a bit of intelligence) would take note of a sudden influx of rare underwater treasures being bought and sold.

Johnny's manager seems a little less enthralled with him at the end.

When Troy was shown shooting out of the underwater tunnel, his legs were locked together and motionless. Once out in the ocean, they showed him waving his legs around constantly. They should have kept him still; kicking his legs around would only have caused drag and slowed him down.

Why didn't Agent X20 finish off Stingray when it was foundering and helpless?

How did X20 manage to cut the lighting rope so easily with an ordinary table knife that's only suitable for spreading butter, etc, and cutting soft bread?

How did Troy manage to avoid smashing his ankles when the lights fell on him? (Incidently, Troy is very quick on the uptake. All Atlanta did was gasp his name; Troy inferred the unspoken "Look out!" and jumped.)
