Rescue from the Skies

Lt. Fisher's training cruise.

I couldn't help wondering if the writer for Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan got the idea for the Kobayashi Maru test from Fisher's "failed" simulator test.

What sort of targets did they use when Troy was tested? That was before they had ever seen a Terror Fish.

If one stick of dynamite was labeled "dynamite", then they all should have been. (Of course, Agent X20 might have rolled the labels out of sight to make the bundle look nice.)

Incompetent again. Why did he rig the delay switch for so long? I'm beginning to think that X20 is secretly on the side of the WASPs and deliberately bungles his assignments.

We're supposed to believe that Air/Sea rescue has no pilot who knows how to swim? Shouldn't they ALL know? And what is the point of Air/Sea rescue having a single-seater jet, anyway? Every time the pilot has to go to someone's rescue, there's a few million bucks worth of plane dumped.

The way Troy was flying that jet, he's lucky that he made it to the rescue site at all.

Fisher really did a fine job. It was his idea to manually operate the pumps instead of sitting on his duff waiting to be rescued.

They end by toasting the new Aquanaut, but the final focus just HAD to be on Troy.

Looking like he'd had about 5 times more to drink than everyone else had. :)
