Eastern Eclipse

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Supermarionation: Stingray: Eastern Eclipse

El Hudat's identical twin brother, Ali Khali, drops in for a visit. ("As long as I was in the neighborhood....")

Where did Agent X20 FIND that plane? In a museum?

Pretty silly of Troy and Commander Shore to assume that, because the plane had missed them twice, it would do so again. Notice that, while Fisher agrees with them, he cautiously slides behind a barricade.

During the crash, all three officers looked as though they had been hurt pretty badly, but a few minutes later, they brushed themselves off and were fine.

Ali Khali is identical to his brother in many ways, including his penchant for seizing the nearest scapegoat to blame things on. The WASPs have El Hudat in jail for crimes against them; why on Earth would they support him in a counter-counter-revolution?

Note to Commander Shore: El Hudat and Ali Khali could just as easily have had their private conversation with Hudat on one side of the bars, and Khali on the other. Note to Troy Tempest: if you want to be able to tell them apart, KEEP THEM APART!

I found a nit. Titan is watching the approach of the Mechanical Fish towards Hudativa. (Why didn't Khali rename it after himself?) At a certain distance, it was announced that they were two hours away from the country. A few minutes later, the map showed the Fish as being just slightly closer to Hudativa than before, but now Titan says that they're just MINUTES away. Also, while Stingray got under way some time before the Fish picked up El Hudat at Lemoy, they didn't show up at Hudativa until after the Fish. Does this mean that Titan's Mechanical Fish are faster than the great Stingray?

Once again, Titan lets his hatred for Troy Tempest spoil his plans. Instead of ordering his Aquaphibians to speed up and drop El Hudat off, thus controlling the situation, he has them turn and attack Stingray.

Those Hudativians are a hardy lot. The Fish crashes on the ocean floor; the hatch pops open and El Hudat just floats blithely up to the surface. No drowning; no bends. That abrupt change of water pressure should have had a frightful effect on him, but no.

I realize that they didn't have DNA testing back then (and would it work for identical twins?) but even in the 60's, they had heard about little things called fingerprints. El Hudat's should have been on file at the Marineville prison, if not in his own country.

One scene gave me a giggle; El Hudat in the Fish, snoozing, a chicken leg in hand, covered with grease. One Aquaphibian says that they will soon arrive; the other says, "Good." From the expression and tone of voice, I was really hoping that he would add "I'll be glad to get this obnoxious Terranean off of our ship!"

I know that this is a kids program but there is no way you could jail them both that's called false imprisonment. Plus surely they could try a lie detector & I know they made this back in the 60s DNA testing was unheard of as said above but this is set in the future so they should bw able to do it.
