Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Supermarionation: Joe 90: Talkdown
By Kinggodzillak on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 2:47 pm:

As Weston has previously said, only he, Mac, Sam and Joe can ever know of the BIGRAT and Joe's work for WIN. But in Attack of the Tiger they tell the General quite openly what they do, and here Mac tells Grant that his son is in the F116, although Mac was quite panicky and might have been hoping Grant's mental state would force him to forget it.

The F-116 model was re-used as the IMC spaceship in the Doctor Who story Colony in Space.

Did it ever occur to anyone to simply have Joe eject from the plane?

I liked Mac's intensity in this one.

I also like the scene when Sam realized that the undercarriage had not been lowered, and lunged for the radio transmitter.

On the other hand, Sam made an awfully quick psychological diagnosis.

It was reported that Grant had broken his foot, but when they kidnap him from the hospital, there is no indication that he has a crutch, a cane, or a walking cast.

How is that poor airplane designer going to explain to the General that he doesn't know how to build the weird green flying car?

It wouldn't have looked good on the ground, would it? :)

"Yes, General, this is what we'd like you to invest in...yes, that one there. The one diving towards the grou-
Oh.
Never mind."

Somehow, I don't think that Mac would have been overly concerned about that aspect of the situation.

By Kinggodzillak on Thursday, August 21, 2003 - 3:04 pm:

Oh no, Mac wouldn't have and thinking about it he should have pushed for it, but Sam would probably have tried to convince him that this demonstration was very important to the Air Force.

By D.K. Henderson on Friday, August 22, 2003 - 4:16 am:

That would have made for an interesting scene--too bad they didn't put it in.

By D.K. Henderson on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 - 7:05 am:

During the time that Joe was in the air, they show Jim Grant at the hospital in bed, thrashing around and sweating, obviously in a bad way, and then they show him up and dressed and ready to leave.

After they get Joe down, Sam asks Jim Grant how he feels. They show a slight movement in Sam's left arm, as though he's reaching out to pat or grip Grant's arm reassuringly. Nice little touch.

I don't see why Mac brought Joe to the airfield in a caravan.

By D.K. Henderson on Monday, September 01, 2003 - 12:32 pm:

Presumably so that no one, including any guards at the entrance, would know that a little boy dressed in a flight suit was at the airfield. Given the circumstances, I don't think that they would have allowed what they thought was a casual sightseer.

By Kinggodzillak on Monday, September 01, 2003 - 3:35 pm:

He'd still have had to have got out of the caravan to board the plane. Why not just duck down as he went past any guards?

By D.K. Henderson on Tuesday, September 02, 2003 - 6:50 am:

So what if they spotted him ducking? Especially since they're on the lookout for saboteurs. The caravan itself only got through because Sam was there to O.K. it.
