As I understand it, Space City constitutes Earth's defence force. An unknown missile aimed at them, with hours to spare before it hit, and the ONLY defence that they could muster was a semi-obsolete rocket ship?

Said missile having landed, they stroll over for a casual look-see, with no precautions against possible radiation or explosives. Having decided that it "looked harmless enough" they left Venus to sleep with it only yards away from her beach house, with one single guard. (And what happened to that guard, by the way?)

The Chloroform and Dr. Rootes indicated that they wanted XL5's crew on the planet so that they could be turned into other Chloroforms (and where did the first one come from? Or from whom?) Why, then, did Dr. Rootes attempt to get the crew to return to Earth by planting another ivy in the ship?

By the way, is that Chloroform related to the giant sentient carrot seen on a certain other science fiction television show?

When I first watched this episode, I thought the Chloroform and Dr. Rootes were the same guy! I was a tad dissapointed when the Chloroform came out near the end, but then again, they probably couldn't afford/achieve any Mission Impossible style stuff with the Rootes guy.
