Space Vacation

Here we have the first showing of the women's stereotype of traveling "light". At least, in this case, Venus gave a reasonable excuse. After spending most of the year in a uniform, it makes sense that she would want to luxuriate in pretty clothes, although I don't see how she could wear that many during a presumably short vacation.

It was rather fun watching the Professor practicing his fishing.

However, if Jankel is so worried about having strangers crowd onto his planet, why would he allow Earth people to vacation there?

I don't recall Kanerik or Steve mentioning that the poison worked in three hours. Steve wasn't even certain that the poison was the one that he named. So why did Jankel give them only three hours to travel to Kemble and back?

That perpetual grin of Venus' can really look out of place! Chained to the wall, she looked as though she were ready to say, "Come on Kanerik, baby, bring on the leather boots and whips!"

Jankel and the Professor were both very anxious for Steve to return, yet neither of them heard Fireball Jr. landing.

The Professor mentioned that there were only seconds left on the timer, yet Steve strolled in, apparently ignored the crossbow aimed at his friend, and proceeded to untie him. Even cutting through the ropes with a knife would have taken time. If I'd been the Professor, I think that I would have said, "Hey, aim that thing somewhere else, would you please?"

It looks as though Ergon is really going to have his hands full keeping the peace.

Either the rocks on Kemble are very light, or the people have extraordinarily thick skulls. (Or perhaps it's just their leaders!) Steve picked up a good-sized chunk of rock and dropped it from a fair height onto Kanerik's head. His skull should have been smashed, but instead, he was only knocked out for a short time.

Why did both the Kemble ship and Fireball Jr. park in the water, like boats? Why not on shore?

If Kemble had always been such a horrible place, it is difficult to see how sentient life could have evolved there. If, on the other hand, the Kemble people had so abused their planet as to ruin it completely, it is understandable why Jankel would not want them coming to his beautiful world.

Is the world of Olympia (or was it Olympus?) such a perfect place that there is no need for doctors? Wasn't there anyone else on the whole planet who could have tended Ergon?

I was curious about the "waterfall", which seemed to consist of smoke. Were they trying to portray a hard-flowing, frothy waterfall, or was it really supposed to be a "smokefall"? (And it would be interesting to know just how they got the smoke to move just so.

Is the world of Olympia (or was it Olympus?) so perfect that there is no normal need for doctors? Wasn't there anyone else on the whole planet who could have tended Ergon? Granted, the antidote only seemed to be on Kemble, but they didn't know that immediately.
