Interesting show, but the plot was too contrived.

First off, why send a geologist to an inhabited world? Wasn't that rather presumptuous? Had the inhabitants requested a geological survey?

Steve indicated that he was acquainted with the people. Why didn't he land in sight of the town, and introduce Fraser to them? They could have had Steve say something to the effect that he was in a hurry to get back on patrol, and he knew that the friendly townspeople would want him to sit down and stay awhile if they knew that he was there.

Fraser is incredibly single-minded. Having discovered that the inhabitants had fled their homes, even leaving food on the table, he shrugged it off as being of no consequence. I would certainly want to know what the heck was going on!

Those little aliens (who reminded me of leprachauns) were the first to be intimidated by size. They weren't even as small as certain other aliens, who didn't let their size deter them.

Venus diagnosed Fraser as suffering from "Space Melancholia" (a nice generic term, don't you think?) I would have called it plain "gold fever."

Just as Fraser did, Steve & Co. pretty much ignored the mystery of the town. You'd think that one of them, at least, would be saying, "What do you think drove them away? How long ago did it happen? Were they killed? Why haven't they come back?"

It seemed odd that Venus would make Zoonie sleep on the first floor while she went upstairs. Maybe she's finally getting tired of him....

Those aliens indicated that they were shy, but that comment about making Steve & Co. wish that they had never come to the planet sounded pretty darn nasty to me.

Interesting how those alien magnets could effect items that presumably had no iron or similar metal in them, such as a wicker basket or a bedspread.

Why didn't they try any stunts on Steve? Or did he just sleep through them?

Steve said that he was going to try and sneak around behind Fraser, yet when he was caught, he was standing directly in front of Fraser's stockpile. Good sneaking, Steve!

Steve told Fraser that they didn't have room for all those rocks, but he neglected to mention an important point. Those rocks are the property of the inhabitants, and without a trade agreement, Fraser has no right to them.

Why was Steve in such a rush to leave? Venus could start treating Fraser up on XL5. He could have started trade negociations for the electric rocks. Not to mention the magnet technology.
