Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Supermarionation: The Kitchen Sink: O.K, so how would YOU change the ending?

This is mostly in relation to the Thunderbirds episodes, but it can apply to any of them. There's been a lot of comment, both here and on other sites, about the labored endings to some of the episodes--poor jokes and canned laughter. People seem to especially dislike the ending of "Atlantic Inferno" for example. So how would you like to see it done?

Mind you, I don't think that it would be fair to just cut the final scenes altogether. After all, they were children's shows, and after an intense hour (or half) they would want to end with a light note. (Danger's over, all's well with the world.) So please suggest endings in keeping with the general style.

I got the idea for this last night, after watching "Operation Crash-Dive" again. Grandma blows a fuse, and Virgil and Scott suggest that Gordon fix it, because he had said that fixing the Fireflash had been so easy--"just like fixing a fuse." Gordon ended with the very trite, very overused line, "Here I go again!" and exited to laughter. If they had to have the fuse joke, I think it would have been better if Gordon had just made an exasperated noise or gesture as he got up. It occurred to me this morning that, having missed the opportunity to really pick on Scott earlier in the show, Gordon could have exited while saying, "Hey, it's better than milking a cow!" or some such line.
