Sam's handprints on the horse indicate two kills for him. I count one in "A Portrait for Troian" and one in "Her Charm". So kudos to the writers (granted, both episodes were soon before this one). On the other hand, for only his second killing he sure was cold-blooded in "Her Charm".

Sam also killed Diane McBride's ex-husband Roget in "Honeymoon Express".
