Did anyone else watch this on the Sci-Fi Channel?

By Benjamin Daniel Cohen (Bcohen) on Friday, September 01, 2000 - 1:40 pm:

Yeah, I saw it. I thought it was pretty good.

By Rene on Friday, September 01, 2000 - 7:36 pm:

What was it?

By Mike Deeds on Tuesday, September 05, 2000 - 6:25 am:

Rene, Sciography is sort of the Sci-Fi Channel's version of A&E's Biography. The difference is that the "biography" is of a particular sci-fi show. So far, they have two specials - one on Battlestar Galactica and the other on QL.

Just a note: this week is "Holy Bat-week!" on A&E's Biography. Adam West will host, and they will do at least Julie Newmar (Catwoman), Vincent Price (Egghead), and Cesar Romero (Joker). I think they will also do Adam West.

The ad campaign (both Radio and TV) is very funny.

Sciography dissects classic sci-fi television series to reveal the underbelly, the guts, the heart and machinery that made each show tick. Rather than focusing on singular personalities, Sciography peels away the layers using exclusive new interviews, never-before-seen footage, rare home videos, outtakes, and insights from fans to find out who, what, when and how these shows were created, blossomed, and ultimately died.

Solid writing and directing and a highly original time-travel premise had Quantum Leap taking spectacular creative risks on a regular basis, and earned it a huge fan following. The quietly charasmatic Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) and the irrepressible Al (Dean Stockwell) had an on-screen chemistry that keeps this show fresh even today.

Trivia:
Sam and Al are linked via their messons and neurons, which are physical entities.
If Sam does not leap physically then this would be lost.
Sam knows 11 languages - 7 modern and 4 dead. Oh, and he reads hieroglyphics
too.
The fact that certain individuals, including himself can see Sam indicates that
there is something behind the aura for them to see.
When a leapee returns they return with a Swiss cheese like memory recalling
some of Sam's memories.
A lot of leapee's think that they have been abducted by aliens.
Children and animals can sometimes see Al because they are in a natural alpha
state.
Sam's lifetime is determined by his perception and not by actual time.
Sam has leaped outside the US a total of 7 times. He's been to Vietnam, The
Bermuda Triangle, Egypt, Japan, The USSR, The Aegean Sea and The U.K.
Some believe that "Project Evil Quantum Leap" is controlled by Satan himself.
For Sam gaps are instantaneous but at PQL it has been said that there have been
gaps in time as long as 6 days.
Al initially would see the leapee until Sam leaped into a gorgeous woman
prompting him to tell Gooshie to reconfigure the IC so that he would see only
Sam.
Ziggy is hooked up to every major data base in the 90's, that is how he is able to
access so much information.
Gooshie is Ziggy's programmer, a short guy with bad breath.
Ziggy was originally a male and then Bellasario decided to make her a her.
Bellasario rationalized this by calling it PCR-Post Creative Rationalization.
Quantam Leap is also a comic book based on the series.
Al used to have pet cockroach named Kevin.
One Halloween episode is related to strange events such as VCR/cable/local
station failure. (it's bad luck to name this episode) After one leaper referred to it
by its title, he lost his job.
One episode (title also goes unmentioned) appears to cause earthquakes in
Southern California-the large quakes of April and June 1992 coincided with the
two showings of this episode.
Scott Bakula played Annie Pott's ex-husband in "Designing Women."
Scott Bakula was nominated for a Tony in 1998 for his work on
"Romance/Romance."
QL ran for a total of 95 episodes.
