Genre fans might want to check out Ken Foree of "Dawn of the Dead '78" fame in this episode.

Sam and Violet go into a bank seeking a loan. The first person to whom they talk tries to brush them off, presumably because they are black. When they finally talk to a loan officer, he observes (reasonably) that a blues club is a high-risk business, but then denies them a loan without even hearing any numbers on how the club is doing---presumably because they are black. This bank is across the street from the club (which has exclusively black patrons), there are black children running around outside the bank, and the year in 1954. It seems reasonable to assume that this bank is in a black neighborhood. With whom does this bank plan to do business, if not black people?

Al come up with a holographic way to show Sam exactly where to hit the cue ball so the angles will work out and he can win at pool. Given Sam's background, I would think that the angles would be the part he could figure out for himself; what he would need help with would be things like how hard to hit the ball, and how and how much backspin to give it. Those would be vital at the high level at which he is playing, and couldn't be given to him with the holographic system.

This holographic cheat eventually fails because, according to Al, "the Pentagon" (referred to often enough to presumably not be metonymy) is gobbling lots of power and Ziggy doesn't have enough left over to do the addtional holographic projection (but can still project Al; hmm). The Pentagon is in Virginia; Project Quantum Leap is in New Mexico. They shouldn't even be on the same power grid.
