A Leap for Lisa

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Quantum Leap: Season Four: A Leap for Lisa

This is one of my favourite episodes, with Sam leaping into the young Al. Some great moments, such as holo-Al being replaced by Roddy McDowall when the chances of young Al's conviction for murder hit 100%, then his reappearance when Sam finds the cigar butt in the car. And of course, Lisa is played by none other than Terry Farrell. Whatever happened to her? 8-)
If I had to include a nit to justify sending a post, then it's sometimes too obvious that young Al's dialogue is dubbed by Dean Stockwell, but it's still a great episode...

I loved this episode too, however:) When Al returns, after Sam finds Chip's cigar, there is a shot of the backs of Sam, Al, and the "Shadow." The Shadow's gun is clearly raised. Then the camera cuts to a shot of the fronts of them, and the shodoes gun is in the holster!

Wow! The day I saw this, BBC Two had just had DS9 on before it! So I got two helpings of DAX!

Does anyone (besides me) think the ending is a cop-out? Basically, Sam fails but they still find a way (i.e. sending the young Al back in time) to succeed in his mission. One of the fun things about QL was that Sam was on a "time limit" to change things. Why couldn't that move be used in any other circumstances? Plus, if you think about what happens, it will give you a headache: If the "Thursday" young Al replaces the "Monday" young Al, what happened when Sam leaped into this situation at the start of the episode? Shouldn't the older Al say to Sam something like: "I don't know you are here Sam. Everything is fine."?

It is, in a way. Also, why not use this trick to bring Sam home. Just leap whoever is in the waiting room back into his own body at the same time he was taken away

It was a bit of a cop-out. But it could only be used in this episode because "Bingo" is Al. Ziggy's Neural net incorporates mesons from both Sam and Al. That's why Sam can leap into Al in The Leap Home (and why they could be switched in the first place). It is also why substitute observer holograms (except in this episode) do not transmit very well.

Oops -- faulty memory. It should be The Leap Back, not The Leap Home, or should it? I'm so confused!!

Yes! The Leap Back!

It's too bad the creators waited until this episode to finally show the waiting room.

Edward(Rodney Mcdowell) tells Sam that they have never taken a leaper into the control room, but in "RAPED" didn't they take that girl into the imaging chamber so Sam could hear her testimony and repeat it to the court. Did he not leap into this girl in the altered timeline when Al was executed in tie gas chamber?
