I read that Roland Emmerich wants to make two more Stargate movies to go along with the first one. Does anybody know how this will affect plans for Atlantis?

By Keith Thomas on Thursday, June 27, 2002 - 4:48 am:

Dear Roland has absolutely no chance to following up his original movie - the studio owns the rights.

It might explain why later films out of the Devlin/Emmerich stable were made by their own production company.

By Merat on Thursday, June 27, 2002 - 5:47 am:

And their later films have become SO good, haven't they?

"EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS"?!?!?!?!?!

By Anonymous on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 - 7:51 pm:

Keith, what the •••• you talking about, The same company the owns the movie, owns the series...

By Merat on Thursday, May 22, 2003 - 7:45 am:

Yes, Anonymous, but the people who wrote the first movie, Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, do NOT own the rights to the movie or the series, which was Keith's point.

And watch the language, Anon (is that you, Naquada?). The automatic censor may bleep out bad language but it's still not welcome here. So play nice, please!

The second movie was turned into the season 6 finale.

The second movie at last?

By Wolverine on Saturday, July 22, 2006 - 6:53 am:

Devlin optimistic re second and third movie... He said about the tv series: "So we're going to try to not tread on their stories."

By Callie on Saturday, July 22, 2006 - 2:58 pm:

How can he fail to "tread on their stories" if there's a Jack O'Neil (albeit with one 'l') and a Daniel Jackson who are nothing like the characters in the TV show?

By Wolverine on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 - 2:45 pm:

Right. Now SG-1 has been cancelled, perhaps it was part of Devlin's plan?
