Is Nick wearing the same shirt to bed that he wears during the day? Can I just say, “Eww”? I know they don’t have a selection of clothes and although they probably haven’t found the laundry room yet, they are hopefully able to get the worst of the dirt and sweat out of their clothes in the showers but still, eww.

There appears to have been an interesting change in the Young/Rush dynamic in that Young sits there and lets Nick ramble on about his dream without tetchily telling him to shove off and bother someone else, or at least demanding that he get to the point.

Where did Camille get the new shirt from? I don’t recall seeing it before.

It’s such a shame that Alaina Huffman got pregnant when she did. T.J.’s pregnancy story is really boring and breaks up far more important stuff. Either that, or I wish they’d hidden her bump behind boxes and tables and pretended that she wasn’t pregnant at all.

Poor directing: when Telford walked towards the Mess with his new fatigues on, I would have preferred to have seen Rush walking along – and not just because I fancy him but because I think it would have been more appropriate to see the host at that moment.

Why is Eli – Mr. Kino himself – taking photos of the baby shower with his iPhone?

Nick (in Telford’s body but believed by everyone else to be Morrison) goes into the apartment block and reaches for the elevator buttons but doesn’t actually press one. However, he was reaching for the Down button. I don’t know anything about the geography of Washington – could the block be built in the side of a hill and so there are apartments on the other side of the building that are on a lower floor but are still above ground? Or does Morrison live in the basement?! Or is Robert Carlyle one of those annoying people who thinks that you should press the Down button to bring an elevator down to you instead of pressing the Up button to signal that you want to go up, thus making the doors open on the wrong floors for people already onboard? (Hereby ends the rant of an office worker.)

So Daniel Jackson is now SGC’s top spy?! Boy, that man’s career has changed since he first joined the Stargate programme! Either that, or budget cuts in Washington have drastically reduced the staff.

Where did Nick get the money to pay the taxi driver? If he’s supposed to be with Sergeant Graham at all times, I wouldn’t have imagined that SGC would think to give him any money of his own, and Telford would have left his own cash in his street clothes. After all, he certainly didn’t have his house keys in his uniform.

You’d have thought that Telford would have a burglar alarm on his house. Even if he’s not taking top-secret stuff home, he’s bound to have some military material and he really should have better security.

I’m happy to admit it: Nick looks a lot prettier in that leather jacket than Telford does!

Clever scripting/directing, and one of those you’ll-only-spot-it-on-second-time-of-watching moments: at the bank Rush dials Telford’s phone and says that he has information to pass on, then there’s a long pause before the guy at the other end tells him to wait for instructions. On first time of viewing you don’t notice the pause or – if you’re very nitpicky (stop looking at me!) – you wonder why there was such a long gap, but on the second run-through you realise that the guy was waiting for Telford to give the secret code word.

It’s a good job the Alliance decided to pick Rush(Telford) up rather than saying, “Meet us at the usual place,” or this would have been a short episode.

In a moment that must have sent a lot of SG-1 fans into ecstasies because of two members of SG-1 being on screen and another getting a mention, Jack tells Daniel that Sam says there’s a jamming device stopping SGC from “getting a lock on anyone in the area”. If he’s talking about a teleport lock from one of the battlecruisers which is presumably in orbit, don’t they need someone in the group to have a marker of some kind? Did they manage to plant one on Rush or does he have a subcutaneous transponder?

And, for that matter, if they were hoping to beam everyone out, couldn’t the Hammond or whichever battlecruiser was in the area have spotted the cargo ship and tried to get in at least one shot before it re-cloaked?

It was probably too much effort (production wise) to put Young into another set of clothes when he returned to SGC after Rush had been taken, but it seems rather coincidental that the same guy had been waiting by the stones a second time. I would have thought he would go off duty pretty much as soon as Young left him the first time.

How does Rush know Kiva’s name? Obviously he has known about the Lucian Alliance for some time, but why would he have been reading intelligence reports about them? Or had Telford carved “I (heart) Kiva” on one of his folders at his house?

When Greer – in effect – offered to beat a confession out of Telford, I said, “He’s Universe’s Ronon Dex!”

The power of command: Young is too lazy to open Telford’s cell door himself, twice commanding one of his minions to do it for him!

The doors on Destiny are starting to get telepathic. Usually they only open or close when someone hits the wall panel, but the doors in Telford’s cell close after Young has walked in without anyone touching a panel.

Why did Dunning have a photo of the fire suppression crew if he wasn’t a member of the crew? Was he dating one of them?

Kiva wonders aloud whether the person in Telford might be Young or Scott, then her goon zaps Nick again – but this time he’s holding Nick’s arm, so shouldn’t he get zapped himself?

Gorgeous and classic Jack moments on his arrival on Destiny: his low-key “Hullo” to Riley, his indignation at being in a corporal’s uniform, and his oh-so-typical turning the wrong way out of the door!

For anyone else who, like me, was going, “Who is that bloke from the Alliance who brought Rush a meal in the pyramid?” he also played Kiryk in the Atlantis episode “Tracker”. He was the Runner who kidnapped Jennifer Keller because he wanted her to look after the injured little girl who was travelling with him, and who will never be forgiven because he didn’t kill her while he had the chance. ;-)

However, more oddly, he also played Odai Ventrell, one of the bounty hunters in the SG-1 episode “Bounty”, and was last seen about to kill Netan, the leader of the Lucian Alliance. Why didn’t they leave him as that character rather than rename him Varro? (Unless he’s masquerading as someone else and all will be revealed in a future episode ...)

Nick doesn’t seem to quite understand the problem with the spread of germs: Varro uses the spoon to taste-test his meal to prove that it’s not poisoned, and Nick – who has been using several keyboards that have been typed on by all sorts of other people and probably hasn’t had the chance to wash his hands since he left Earth – refuses to use the spoon and eats with his fingers!

Telford actually has some very good points when he makes his speech, and Jack does himself no favours by trying to be a smartass. However, presumably the Lucian Alliance didn’t even consider sending a delegation to talk to Earth, make exactly the points that Telford made, and see if they can shame Homeworld Command into giving them sharesies in Destiny’s databanks. On the other hand, why are they so keen to get on board? If they’re getting accurate information about the ship, they know that she is indeed – as Nick describes her – a rust bucket which, so far at least, has done the crew few favours. Maybe one day she’ll be a fount of valuable knowledge but even then, she’s ancient (with a small ‘a’) and surely Atlantis is a much better source for useful material. Maybe the Alliance should have been working harder to get a spy in there.

I cringed as Brody pressed the button to cut off the life support – not because of the threat to Telford but because of the horrific sight of Peter Kelamis’ fingernails, which he bites down way below the white bit and which really did not warrant a close-up.

I had completely lost track of time at the end of the episode, partially wrapped up in confusion over what the hell Brody was doing, and then even more distracted by the start-up of a re-run of the gorgeous backing music from Divided – so much so that the fade to black at the end came as a total shock! They do like their stop-practically-in-the-middle-of-a-sentence endings ... and there’s no bloody episode next week!!

But there are a few unanswered questions that need resolving, like how Rush knew Kiva’s name; why Brody acted the way he did; why the Alliance so desperately want to get on board a ship that they can’t get back to the Milky Way in. Maybe we’ll get one of those fast rewind through the episodes, stopping off at various points to explain what was going on moments in one of the next few eps.

Okay, saw this episode, and I thought it was okay. granted I knew they couldn't stay away from those stones forever, but at least we got a good story about Rush dealing with the Lucian Alliance.

Hence lies the problem for me, however, as I have said, I'm new to this franchise, this is the first Stargate show I have followed, so I have no idea who these aliens are, and why they hate Earth so much. Do they have any connection with the Gou'ud (sp)? I pyramids on that planet where they took Rush to.

And thus my point is proven that the writers are making far too many assumptions that viewers have seen the earlier series.

Here is a brief guide to the Lucian Alliance. They don’t hate Earth, they simply have their own interests at heart. The Icarus-like planet used to be inhabited by the Goa’uld, hence the pyramid.

Daniel & his camera seemed far too visible for a covert mission. Fortunately none of the bad guys looked his way.

So why didn't they have an F-103 or something flying in the area just in case the ship took off?

Why didn't Daniel have a zat gun in case the meeting went south?

According to Joseph Mallozzi's blog, there's no mystery about Rush knowing Kiva's name. Apparently he trawled Telford's memory from the flashbacks and found the name there. Hmmm. Not very convincing.

Who knew Telford's memory had a search function? ;-)
