Moe, Larry & Shemp (1947 - 1956)

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Three Stooges: Moe, Larry & Shemp (1947 - 1956)

By the mid-1940’s, Curly’s health began to deteriorate. During this time, he suffered several strokes that robbed him of his energy. During the filming of 1947’s Half-Wits Holiday, Curly suffered a major stroke on the set, effectively ending his career. He retired to his home, and died in 1952. After Curly left the group, his brother Shemp (an original Stooge) replaced him. Shemp appeared in many films with the Stooges until his untimely death in 1955. A Shemp double named Joe Palma completed the few remaining shorts in 1956.
