Highlander and the Marvel Universe

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Highlander: Immortal Sink: Highlander and the Marvel Universe

I was speaking with a friend the other day about Highlander and he said that it would fit well into the Marvel Universe. His reasoning was because that immortals were muntants and the Marvel universe has dealt heavily with mutants over the years.
That got me thinking. Imagine immortals in the X-men or working for Magneto. Or immortals with the Avengers. Of course they may have a problem with one of their members going around decapitating people. And Doom would probably would love to find a way to use them to further his own agenda.
It would generate some interesting storylines.

Marvel has had a Highlander ripoff plot element. They were called the Externals. They were immortal mutants who apparently discovered their immortality after dying a violent death. Supposedly at some point they would fight and only one would survive. Sounds familiar doesn't it. Marvel killed most of them off a while ago.

Well, it would make sense in Spider-Man if Norman Osborn was an Immortal. After all, we're supposed to believe that some 'healing factor' saved him when he was skewered by his own jet glider. If he were an Immortal, it would make sense ... but of course, Harry would have to be adopted, since Immortals can't have children.

And if we're supposed to accept that the 'Aunt May' who returned from the dead in 'The Final Chapter' is the genuine Aunt May, we will also have to believe that Aunt May is an Immortal as well.

Ok,the big question is really:Is Wolverine immortal?
What I mean by that is that from all the facts that are given concerning Logan he:
A)Was old enough to have served in WW II alongside
Steve "Captain America" Rogers
B)Hasn't aged too much since then
C)Has the most famous healing factor in Marvel
continuity
D)Never has revealed either his true age or his true name(Logan is either his first or last name but he hasn't revealed which)

No Wolverine is not immortal. He (or atleast various alternate versions of him) have died several times. Off the top of my head are the one that died in Limbo and the one that died in Rachel Summer's future (hey, isn't that the present now?) Its just that his healing factor makes him hard to kill and slows his aging process.

How things change. We now know Wolverine was born James Howlett in the late 19th Century, and that he may be effectively unkillable given that he has regenerated from virtually nothing in at least one recent story.

Tell me more about this regeneration, I've lost touch with Wolverine comics, thanks.
